This little B&B is very charming. The three guest rooms are all lovely. We have been here 4 times now, and plan to come back many more. Ginger is an excellent hostess; warm and friendly, while also giving us space to enjoy time just as a family. Breakfasts are to die for, and her specialty (in addition to breakfast) is fried oysters. Simply the best oysters that I have had, ever. Truly a great getaway!

In looking for a B&B for a romantic weekend on the coast with my wife, I called many places but this was the first where a person answered the phone. Ginger was very friendly on the phone and I booked. Great decision!

The location is about 3 hours from Tacoma with long sections along very scenic coast line. When we got there, Ginger was waiting for us and showed us everything around the house. There were many decorations and interesting things to look at in the house, which you got free roam of because Ginger lives next door. If you ever need her to ask a questions, you can just ring the door bell and she'll pop right over.

She made reservations for me at local restaurant which I probably would have driven past were it not her suggestion. Then we spent a little time at the tavern down the road and picked up some snacks at the Grocery store on the way back to the Charles Nelson from the tavern. When we got back, ginger had homemade fudge, peanut butter bars, lemon bars, and sugar cookies waiting for us in the living room. There was also some bourbon on the coffee table so we spent the rest of the night talking and listening to music. There was a music player in every room!

The next morning the breakfast was awesome, having 4 different kinds of juice, gourmet tea, a big glass of ice water and fresh fruit cured my hangover. There was so much good food I didn't make a dent in my main course and I think I may have hurt Ginger's feelings.

After breakfast it was a short drive up the road to the Leadbetter Pointe State park, the tip of the peninsula. There is a combination of trails that will take you along the bay side, through dense woods, and out onto the ocean beach. If you go at low tide, you can find all kinds of creatures in the tidal flats on the bay side; sponges, crabs, clams, oysters, mussels, we even saw some large tracks, maybe elk or deer. The whole loop is about 4 miles, and very easy, just be sure to bring rubber boots during the winter months as the trails do flood.

The location was perfect for a weekend away. The service was on a different level. For less money than a night at a Seattle Ramada, with no amenities, this is a great value. The rooms were comfortable and each has its own bathroom.

I would love to return, perhaps this summer.

Room Tip: Elsa is the biggest and has the king size bed and huge bathroom, but Charles has a view of the Bay a...

How fitting, as you sit at the dining table gazing out on Willapa Bay, where 25% of the US oysters are grown, to enjoy pan fried oysters with a savory breakfast entree. Of course, bacon/ sausage is also available, along with fruit juice, homemade pastries, etc.
Besides being a wonderful cook, the hostess was warm and accommodating, willing to chat, but not overbearing, with good tourism advice.
The home is historic and comfortable. Rooms good-sized and tastefully decorated. Quiet, peaceful location. Lovely gardens.

Ginger (host) is very welcoming, gracious and helpful. Common areas and rooms are comfortable, well appointed and spotlessly clean in this 1920's home. Best breakfast EVER - and we've stayed in lots of B&B's. Would return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: ALL THREE ROOMS ARE GREAT - VERY QUIET LOCATION

The Charles Nelson Guest House is one of those places that feels so comfortable, it is more like visiting a favorite relative than staying at a B&B.

Our hostess Ginger Gish is one of the sweetest people you could hope to meet. She goes way above the norm in trying to please her guests, always offering what ever little extra that might make your stay more enjoyable. She lives next door, so guests have this charming home and its spacious gardens to themselves.

The location is a great base from which to explore the Long Beach Peninsula and we never get tired of hiking the many trails in nearby Leadbetter State Park or walking the beaches of Willapa Bay across the street or the Pacific Ocean only minutes away.

Ginger's Breakfasts are always wonderful, but the thing that sets her apart from others is that if you love oysters, and Willapa Bay is famous for some of the best, Ginger will cook you up a big plateful along with the eggs, sausage, scones, baked oatmeal or whatever else you might be having for breakfast that morning. There are plenty of restaurants for dinner and Ginger will even pack any muffins or scones you couldn't eat for breakfast for you to enjoy later in the day.

She is a great animal lover and we enjoyed all her stories about the "pets" her husband wouldn't allow her to have. No animal intrudes on the guests quarters, but if you ask nicely she may introduce you to her very special rabbit with the lion mane.

Small (3 bedroom) B&B with large living spaces, and excellent breakfast. Guests have "full run" of the entire house (owners live next door). Originally selected due to it's location close to razor clamming, but would return for a relaxing visit. Hosts are welcoming and helpful. If you like B&B, this will not disappoint.
