This hotel is off the highway, and close to many restaurants and shops. It has obviously been re-habbed, and they have done a great job. The lobby is warm and inviting, with coffee and cookies to welcome you. The staff is minimally courteous; doing just what is required, even when the check-in line is empty. When we reported a serious problem with the cleanliness of their outdoor pool, the staff did not apologize, just directed the pool to be cleared. I was not impressed by their reaction.
The rooms were incredibly clean, and even smelled fresh. The linens were very fresh (although I am ALWAYS weary of coverlets) and each double bed had three pillows. Beds were at the minimum comfort level, soft, but I could actually feel the springs underneath.
The bathrooms still require some updating, as there were signs of years of wear. They were very clean, however, and well-stocked with linen.
I would suggest you contact the hotel directly for your reservation, as the web price is $103 versus over $120 for an average night stay. I don't think this price is fair for the property, but if you have to stay in Mt. Vernon, it is the best option.
