We stopped by Mossyrock on a journey between Mt Rainier National Park and Portland, after a morning's hike that left us tired and pretty hungry. The signs by the road offered food at the Pantry Cafe, so we thought we'd see what was on offer.
The Cafe doesn't look like much from the outside, as quite often American cafe/diner places are. Inside it was spotless if a little basic but we had a warm welcome as we were getting accustomed to.
The food (sandwiches and drinks) arrived pretty quickly and the flavours were spot on. My 'Mt Adams' sandwich (described by the owner as the ultimate 'man' sandwich) was delicious and was very welcome after the long hike, and the owner spent plenty time helping us out with local knowledge of hikes in the region, sending us away with maps and leaflets.
If we'd been staying in the area rather than just passing through I'd have given serious thought to an evening meal here. A gem in the middle of the wilderness certainly.
