We stopped at every spot boasting "The Best Clam Chowder" between Enumclaw and Long Beach, WA,. Hands down, the BEE HIVE in Montesano is Number One! First time I visited the place was in 1953 on the way to back pack into the Queets River Corridor. It became a tradition to stop for breakfast, with our kids, neighbor kids, kids from the "Y", Cub and Boy Scouts, on our annual Queets trek. We stopped again for dinner on the way back home. After a week of camp grub out in the woods the Bee Hive was heaven, with fried Razor Clams, genuine milk shakes, YAK burgers, and at least a dozen varieties of home made pie. It hasn't changed in 69 years. Still good down home food, wonderful service, clean rest rooms, affordable family pricing and the BEST clam chowder on the coast.
