A beautiful cave that continues to evolve and grow, it is not a long tour, but interesting. There are many trails around, including 1/2 mile hike to the canadian border. In addition, there is the Boundary Dam close by and it too is very interesting... I would highly recommend that if you are in the area to do both tours... both beautiful and unique in their own ways.

The tours are free, you will need to pay $10 for parking for Gardner Cave or have a Discover pass.

Located in the far northeastern corner of Washington State, 12 miles north of Metaline Falls along the British Columbia, Canada border lies Crawford State Park. This state park is centered around its key attraction, Gardner Cave. The cave has 3-4 scheduled tours per day on days the park is open. Check the Washington State Parks website for verification before visting. The day we visited, not a soul was around but the ranger showed up within minutes and she was more than happy to take us on a tour of the cave. The cave was quite interesting and is still actively growing. For years this cave was in private hands and when it changed ownership in later years, the family donated it to the state and the state park system became the caretaker. If you enjoy caves, this out of the way little state park is worth a few hours. The resident ranger is quite informative and knowledgeable on the cave, its geology and its history. The park also has quiet forest trails you can wander about on and even make your way up to the International Border. Just take note of your location because the federal government frowns on you poking around too much along the border line. Make note of the signage, and stay on the US side.
