This is one of our favorite places to visit. Whenever we are stressed out by very busy daily life, we go to Mazama to just sit on the porch, relax, and enjoy the quietness. There are a lot of trails for hiking/biking. Even my five year old daughter loved the place.

Nice place to relax. Stayed here several times. The kitchen can be off as we learned last week; a dinner that seemed to be missing an entree; just salad, indian appetizers and dessert, no hint of protein whatsoever. Thankfully, we are not big eaters and had a late lunch or it would have been a 30 mile ride for pizza.

This was a well kept up nice inn. Our room was large and the buildings are modern. It was comfortable, quiet and clean. There are good amenities such as a hot tub, swimming pool and tennis courts. They also have WiFi. The service was good but not outstanding (it was very late in the day before they cleaned our rooom). The restaurant breakfasts were ok. Dinner was acceptable but no more. Servings were huge! I would stay here again but I would also consider some other properties in the area. Mazama itself is really just a crossroads with a general store (no gas) and the Inn. The Outward Bound headquarters is just up the road. There seemed to be other nice places 20 miles down Highway 20 around Winthrop.

The Methow Valley is like a dry fjord with canyon walls dropping sharply into meadows and pine forests. In the middle of one pine forest is The Mazama Country Inn. The rooms in the main lodge are very comfortable, but we have more often stayed in quarters away from the main building. These are a bit more upscale, with knotty pine and jetted tubs for a good soak after a day in the hills. The rooms are heated with a gas stove of rustic design and open out to wooden decks that, depending on which you have, look into the grounds of the inn or into a stretch of pines. White holiday lights sparkle along the covered walkways after dark. During peak times and weekends the inn's restaurant offers good, hearty fare with some sophistication. The ribs on a previous visit were superb. But it may be what is NOT there that makes this spot delightful. No clock radios, no clocks, no phones and no televisons. Even better: no signal for cell phones, either. If you want to have a luxurious stay in the Methow, Sun Mountain Lodge is the way to go. But if you want something quieter, cozier and closer to the land, The Mazama Country Inn is perfect.
