My husband and I have just finished a week long trip through the Cascades. We arrived early evening on Aug 31 and stayed in an A room. It was so peaceful, clean, and just what was needed after a day of hiking. The continental breakfast served in the dining room in the morning was plentiful - granola, cereals, teas, coffee, breads, and fruit. We spent the day in Winthrop and enjoyed our stay at Mazama so much that we called on the afternoon of Sept. 1 to spend another night. We couldn't wait to get back to the peaceful, friendly setting and enjoy the surroundings and amenities that the Inn had to offer. It will be first on my list the next time I am in the Cascades.

Stopped on the way back from Winthrop. Had a great breakfast at 7:30 am today. Mazama Scramble and Veggie Omelet. The Omelet and scramble were done perfectly. Good coffee too! Very pretty dining room with a large stone fireplace in the center. I liked the fresh daisies on the table too. Outside eating too, if you want to share breakfast with the mosquitoes We will make it a point to stop when passing though next time.

Been staying at the Mazama Country in for 25 years and it is our favorite. People like it for skiing and we've come in the winter too. But, summer for enjoying the laid back pace of the Methow Valley is why we return year after year. The valley is tucked in a high at the base of the Cascades and gives it a feel unlike any other in the state. Worn mountains line the dry grassy fields, stunning river and pine forests. So beautiful and such a change form the hustle of Seattle. The Inn is located about 20 minutes from the cowboy theme town of Winthrop and about one hour form the highest place you can drive a car -- 6,000 feet at Hart's Pass. I begin and end backpacking trips here. Its a four hour drive from Seattle, so this give us a rest before the hike and a nice shower and meal at the end. The restaurant when open is the best in the region. Try to get one of the new cabins. The main lodge is for groups and cost savings. For peace and calm and friendly, laid back hospitality by the competent staff, you can't go wrong. You will love your stay at the foot of the Cascade wilderness. The drive over on Highway 20 is worth the trip.

Room Tip: Hike the 2 miles to Maple Pass on way over. Get wonderful sandwiches at the Mazama gas station deli.

Freshly baked scones awaited us in the morning for our breakfast. Very attentive service at the front desk and in the restaurant. "Davidson", the cat purred when we arrived - he knew we liked him! We had a wonderful room with a view of the great outdoors. Nice library and a reading nook with a puzzle going. We enjoyed the hot tub we had all to ourselves after a long day of driving. Love the ponderosa pines, and the wildflowers all around.

Room Tip: We liked one of the small rooms next to the office

We had almost 30 club members that traveled over the North Cascades Hiway with our Model A Ford Cars and some modern cars and stayed two nights at the Mazama Country Inn. It was most pleasent experience. We had a wonderful dinner one night and a great breakfast both mornings. We were treated with a professional group of people that were friendy and showed upmost hospitality. We plan to return again next year.

This is the third time I have stayed at the Mazama Country Inn and my experience has been excellent every time. This last time the staff went out of their way to accomodate a late arrival and early departure. This meant that when I arrived breakfast was set up in my room (on ice) and instructions on how to start the pre-loaded coffee pot were included. Very comfortable accomodations and exceptional attention to making your stay enjoyable.

My husband and I stay at the Mazama Country Inn every winter, both for New Year's weekend and MLK weekend. We just love it there and felt it was high time we posted a review of the Inn. You will not find better service or friendlier folks than here!
The rooms are really nice, with a country appearance - the rooms we've stayed in had a fireplace and gas stove, usually a sitting area and kingsize bed - some rooms have whirlpool tubs. We both have dietary restrictions yet the staff there completely cater to whatever dietary needs/preferences their guests may have. The food is out of this world! Always plenty of it and the menu is frequently changed to keep things interesting. They serve it family-style, meaning that the guests all sit together to share breakfast & dinner - it's always fun to meet the guests. They provide all the fixins for sack lunches after breakfast so you can take one with you.
The groomed cross-country ski trails are just a few feet away from the front door of the main lodge - my idea of heaven! If you're looking for a fun winter vacation, this is the place to stay. You can rent skis/boots/poles or snowshoes. Big fireplace in the main lodge to warm up next to after your outdoor adventures. I highly recommend the Mazama Country Inn at any time of year but particularly during the snowy months to help you make it through our lengthy winters!
