My children and I are on a 10 week summer trip visiting 17 US States and British Columbia. We stopped at the Chicago American Girl Place and now Seattle. Alderwood Mall is easy to find off the interstate. Park between Sears and PF Chang's for easy access to American Girl Place. Store is neat and organized. Not crowded like Chicago and Manhattan.
Nearby is super awesome Lego store for the sons in your group!
Girl heaven. You can make an appointment for a free personal shopper who can help your girl narrow her choices- was a great experience, if a bit expensive. :-) The bistro has a tea service that our kids loved.
My daughter saved her money and waited almost 6 months to go the the American Girl store. It was bigger and more exciting than she imagined. Couldn't believe all the people there, it was like Christmas in March! The store employees were friendly and very helpful. Everyone made us feel to welcome.
We had the pleasure of going to American Girl in Lynnwood on September 23 and 24th. My girlfriend and I have visited American Girl Place in LA on a couple of seperate trips down to that area and as doll collectors, found it to be an awesome experience. The Lynnwood location opened in July and we weren't sure what to expect as it didn't sound like it was going to be as lavish or large as LA. As this new location is about a two and a half hour drive from our home in Canada, we decided we just had to go and check it out. My 7 year old granddaughter has only seen pictures of the stores and was also anxious to experience a store rather than an on line experience so we took her with us. First off having a child along really adds a new dimension to the trip. Prior we had only experienced the stores from a collectors point of view but now we had an opportunity to share our passion of dolls with a new young collector in the making. The new store doesn't disappoint. From our perspective, we really enjoyed the fact that it is all on one level and we didn't have to go from floor to floor to see the different displays. It occupies a very large space and is a very large store, much larger than we had envisioned, and it is located in a trendy upscale mall in an open air area of the mall. We felt the store was well laid out, everything was easy to find, the displays are beautiful, and you do experience much of the same things that you do in the larger, multi level store but in a more manageable floor plan. The staff was for the most part helpful and there was a lot of staff on duty. We made 3 treks to the store in two days and enjoyed each visit. The granddaughter finally after much contemplation picked out a doll for her very own and her first American Girl doll. My girlfriend and I also came home with new treasures. We loved the store, we loved that it is so close to us now and that there are several hotels in the area that are reasonably priced so we can have a mini vacation now and then. The only things I wish had been different is that at the other stores they usually have an offer of a specially priced outfit you can buy at a reduced price if you spend a certain amount, this store does not have this offer available. Also, at the LA store the personal shoppers gave out a little goodie shopping bag to new little girls coming to the store with a pencil, sticker etc in it and this store doesn't seem to offer any of these little perks that make a special day even more special for our new little shoppers. They might want to look into that option as it does tend to make new little girls more comfortable and makes then feel special and valued as customers in the store. Other than that, we enjoyed our visit so much and I am sure we will return in the future!
This is a new store in Alderwood Mall, Lynnwood, Wa., just opened in July 2011, with all the latest dolls, they are mostly very large dolls, and you buy them with an outfit, and can buy more outfits, and rooms for them to "live" in with their little girl owners. There is so much to see here, (I'd never been to one before, I'd go again in a heartbeat, and take my husband next time) Its quite an experience.
In their attached restaurant, I saw two ladies, with their little girls, and there was a doll in a dolly high chair next to each little girl, and they were having "tea".....the cutest thing. I wanted to take a picture, but I didn't.
