A wonderful find in the middle of this relatively small town, the Lynden Pioneer Museum is a fantastic outing. Allow yourself several hours --- this isn't an excursion you'd want to have to hurry through. The staff are welcoming, informed, and proud of their town and museum (and well they should be). A fun "surprise" is the fact that there are a large number of carriages, vehicles, pieces of farm machinery, bicycles---and more in a basement that had to be dug so there was a place to house the collections! The re-creation of an old time Lynden town street---with various shops, a cafe, etc. is visible from the "street" level and also from a second floor balcony surrounding the town. We were only in Lynden from a Friday night through Sunday morning, and, although our visit to the Museum absorbed a proportionately large part of our free time, we were not at all sorry we spent our entire Saturday afternoon in the Museum!
