“A Lovely, Relaxing Getaway”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

My husband and I just returned from a too-short weekend at Boreas, and it far-surpassed my expectations. The photos on the website do not do justice to the gorgeously decorated and meticulously appointed rooms, and the breakfasts were beyond delicious...I couldn't eat again until dinner (well, except for a few of the homemade brownies that were always available). Susie and Bill were the consummate hosts, helpful, amiable, and considerate about our vegetarianism. Soaking in the private hot tub at night with a glass of sake and the rain falling outside made me feel 1000 miles away, even though it was just a quick 2-hour drive from Portland. I cannot think a lovelier place to spend a weekend!

Very nice place. The inn keepers were there to make your stay memorable. The breakfast was excellent every day. If you went away hungry, it was your fault.
The inn keeper was very helpful in recommending resturants and for making reservations. They recommended places to see and places to go.
They had a very nice "common area" with many games and reading material to suit any taste. The outside area was nice, had a nice, private, hot tub if that was your thing. Very easy walk to beach.
Hard to make a better choice.

My wife and I have stayed in a dozen or more B&B's the last couple years and this is among the top 2 or 3. We stayed in the "Stargazer" room on the second floor. The view of the beach when you wake up is amazing. When you go to bed at night, you actually do see the stars through the large window and skylights. From the always available tea and treats, to the amazing 3 or 4 course breakfast, everything was perfect. We traveled with another couple. There was ample room to meet, whether it was in the living room, the porch or the chaise lounges out on the grass. There actually were deer walking across the property. Bill and Susie gave good advice about the many must-see attractions and places to eat. They were great hosts.

We stayed for three nights at Boreas and Suzie [Bill was out of town], Christina and Mark plus Kimmy, make for terrific hosts. The breakfasts were beyond great. We had just completed a 17 day cruise and had awesome food on board the ship but it could not compare for each of the gourmet breakfasts served. The Long Beach area had more than enough vacationing activities to entertain us not the least being just sunsets and walking the Pacific beach and the bay. Good restaurants are also in the area. The little things such a jelly bellies and brownies and P'nut M&M's, fire places, a hot tub, and great conversations made the time go by too quickly. We loved it and will highly recommend it to our friends. We were far from our Ohio residence, but it is well worth the trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden Room that had its own private porch area/

The Boreas Inn is an amazingly comfortable place to stay. Even during the frequent rains (which did not hinder us) The Long Beach area is one of the unknown destination vacation spots. We visited in early April when weather is wet and visitors are somewhat few but we were so impressed with the places to see both indoors and out of doors. Just watching Suzie & bill working together to produce a magnificant breakfast was yet another treat. Suzie has paid special attention the food limitations that my wife has.

We are seriously trying to figure out how we can go back for a few more days next September.

My wife and I have stayed at Boreas for several years now. We've alway found the rooms and areas for guest to be the very best. Comfortable, well decorated and maintained rooms and the living room is outstanding. Susie and Bill are outstanding hosts and genuinely care about their guests. And the food! We have always been amazed at the pastries Susie prepares and the main course of the breakfast that Bill prepares is alway the very best (you don't need lunch after a Boreas breakfast.) Susie will always recommend a local resturant and make dinner reservations for you.

Room Tip: Our favorite room is the Dunes, king size bed, jacuzzi tub and quiet.

Boreas is a warm, comfy house about a half mile from the beach. Houses on the coast are rustic and weather beaten, so do not expect a new, modern facility. The owners were very helpful and made us feel at home, which is what the common area living room and dining room were like. Breakfasts were gourmet cooking at its finest and were the highlite of our stay. We rated the property average because we were initially confused as to where to go to find the front door which required walking up steps with changing directions. Our room was simple with views of miscellaneous lumber, wheelbarrow, objects piled along the fenceline looking over into the neighbors back yard. This was NOT the view we expected from the advertisements and reviews. Toward the ocean, we saw sandunes.

Room Tip: To see the ocean, ask for an upstairs room and bring a telescope. The house is nearly a half mile f...
