Captain's Hideaway is true to the description in regards to location and amenities. This was a "replacement" spot for us after the owner of our past two years' rental sold their condo which is two doors down from CH, so we were really familiar with the floor plan and love it each year. The differences are only furniture and books/movies/puzzles/beach gear/etc. Explaining the title, the owners here have created an environment rich in family activities for both sunny and rainy days. If the kids can't find something to do here they are wanting to be bored. There are movies for every age, puzzles, books for all ages and interests, outdoor gear for the active or castle builder, swift internet access for the gamer, and plenty of storage for the foody. If the kids like solitude, they wont enjoy their time. It's small enough to feel cozy, but big enough to entertain a family of 4-5. There is an onsite high chair, play pen, chairs to coddle the infant, or recliner to allow dozing. If you are parents wanting to get away, you'll be reminded of who you left at home. However, the place is extremely relaxing for that type of trip with your spouse. We always come out here during off season, so it's always really quiet due to no traffic at the end of a side street about .25 mile from the main road. The only sounds with the doors open is the ocean surf. I have no idea how it would be with neighbors so can't speak to it.
The shower pressure is perfect, washer/dryer combo good for a couple loads for the week; dryer may take a couple cycles to fully dry loads. Fireplaces nice, not super bright flames, not a ton of heat, and the downstairs one didn't even work for heat - but we didn't need them for heat. Dishwasher worked well, no electrical issues, plenty of seating, but we did move the furniture to personalize our stay. Did miss not having a central coffee table as we use both the dinner table and coffee table for scrapbooking and puzzles. No footstools upstairs, but minor inconvenience.
Overall, so worth the rental and somewhere I would set up camp for an entire month if I had the time.
