We were able to take in the beach and did some kite flying. Another day we were able to view the sand castles before they were judged at the Sand Castle Festival. The weather was fabulous while we were there.

If you like crowds, endless t-shirt shops, noise and traffic jams then this is the place for you. BUT, if you like the scenic beauty of the west coast of Washington, then there are other places for you to go along the peninsula. We stayed here mainly because of Cape Disappointment and other Lewis & Clark historic sites. I wish that we could have stayed some where else, but the hotel required a two day minimum stay at twice the room rate of other places we had stayed at in Washington for less of a room and we couldn't check out after the first night and go somewhere else.

Just got back. While the rest of the Northwest was/is in a heat wave. Long Beach was still wonderful. A couple of the days made it into the 80s for a short time, but cooled down by dinner time. Easy walk to anywhere in town. Short drives to nearby towns. An easy drive to Oregon - Astoria, Seaside. There are definately tourists, but nothing like the deluge that is Seaside. Still no trendwest here, Amen. If planning ahead, check with local real estate websites, could find a great condo rental that includes full living room, kitchen, multiple bedrooms, washer/dryers for the same price as the super 8 in town. Plenty of local places to get take out food. If you really want fast food, there is even a McDonalds. Tons of coffee stands on, and off the main road. The best camping is the next town over, Ilwaco. A huge state park right on the beach. Plenty for history buffs too. Two lighthouses. Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center - with remnants of World War II and prior military bunkers and canons/guns. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and binoculars.

THE BEACHES AT LONG BEACH WA. ARE WELL TRAVELED - AND PRISTINE -! With easy access from tourist friendly HIGHWAY 101, you are greeted by *THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY ON THIS COAST*. Actually thriving, and here is why ..... This town entertains you! Tourists long to return because of someone they met or a meal devoured. The very texture of LONG BEACH beckons, with it's well kept thorofair and meandering walkways.
The BEACH is found through a miriad of footpaths or two grandious FREE, DAY PARKING LOTS with a boulivard design. You may drive right to the wide sandy beach or explore the sand dune grasslands on the way! IT is not unusual to find jetsom like fish net floats and driftwood here. A welcome feature is an elevated walking path built as a view point wonderfly suited for wheelchairs. The town closes down farily early on weekdays so shop and eat early. I may live here some day!
