“Good - not Great”
Reviewed July 22, 2008

My Husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway and visit to Leavenworth a couple months ago. This is a great place for a romantic getaway, peace, quiet and privacy.

The breakfasts were the best part and were wonderful! However, we did have to consistently ask for condiments (ketchup, creamer for coffee we had to make on our own)

The beds were very comfortable, and the room warm once you got the heater blasting.

They had a tv, dvd, and cd player and many movies to borrow to watch in your room, which we did.

Beautiful scenery to walk around and see - and very close to skiing attractions nearby.

However, not everything was great.

The room themselves are not well done. Old poorly installed carpet in our room (you can see where they cut the carpet down the center of the room) Poorly laid out jacuzzi tubs with carpet on the sides. The fan they insist you use during your jacuzzi soaks are loud and very annoying. You have to use their cheap bath salts instead of your own (yuck)

The farm itself is not set up well either. Beyond the natural scenery, the farm itself is not impressive, or kept in good maintenance for viewing.

Also the first day we arrived about 30 min before our check in time and the hostess was not friendly about it at all. No tour, no explanation of the history of the property or anything.

In addition one thing we generally enjoy about B&B's is meeting and chit-chatting with others staying there. This property is not set up to socialize at all. Their main public room is a living room which looks like any general grandmas living room. Not cozy, inviting, or interesting at all.

I would only suggest this place if you want to totally seclude yourselves in privacy, want to be near the pass for skiing, and dont mind that the aesthetics of the room and property itself are not so great.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stay only 1 night while skiing/boarding @ Stevens Pass and were lucky enough to find the Pine River Ranch. We showed up and our room, Ponderosa Suite, was toasty and so inviting after a long day on the mountain. Some of the reviews earlier mentioned a problem with a lack of hat water for the spa, but that wasn't a problem for us. Just a hint though, turn off the fireplace and heater before getting into the tub - it'll get too hot!

The only thing we could find to criticize would be the towels/robes - not the softest around, and the blowdryer that was a little lacking in the blowing department.

Everything else though was great! We were close enough to have dinner in Leavenworth and didn't have to wake up too early to hit the slopes. Time and Bunny were great and so was breakfast in the morning! The discounted lift tickets were just another bonus!

All in all a great stay for couples, very romantic and private!!!!

We had a great time here. Really nice rooms that were extremely comfortable. We stayed in Lodgepole which fits its name perfectly. The food was excellent. We went in the winter for our anniversary and loved going snowshoeing in all the snow. I love that it is close to the ski area and they even gave us free tickets for staying on a weeknight. It was great being able to come back to a nice HOT Jacuzzi after the day out in the snow
Absolutely would recommend this to anyone.

A very nice overall stay. My wife and I went there for her birthday. The room was very clean, well decorated with hand carved bed frame and an overall "cabin feel."

Private Jacuzzi bath was very nice and the breakfast in the morning was fantastic!

Lots of hiking and biking close by. Leavenworth is just a quick 20 minute drive east on the highway which is a good day in itself to explore.

Would definately recommend this B&B to friends.

  • Liked — The great B&B feel to the room.

It all sounded like a good idea. My wife and I booked a stay here for our fifth anniversary. All was fine until we arrived. No one answered the office door for a few minutes while we waited in plain view for the keepers to finish a conversation. (they kept the door locked). After getting the key the keeper showed us our room (ponderosa) which was a beautiful little room with a territorial view. We then got what my wife and I both later discussed as the Third degree about the rules. No bath oils or anything else in the Jacuzzi tub, only what thay supply which came right off the back of grandmas toilet tank. No massage oils or any of the such on the linens. Um OK, did I say it was our anniversary? Just checking. Turn the fan on at all times when using the tub, no smoking, not even outside or anywhere on the property. Now I dont smoke cigarettes, but I was hoping to celebrate with a cigar, scratch that. Not to mention a few other things not as important but irritating nonetheless. So, we got a couple of complimentary DVD's from the office, which was cool. But we later thought it was time to use the Jacuzzi, Well guess what? No hot water, only luke warm. We tried anyway, using "their" bath salts. The tub was not enjoyable lukewarm plus-not sure if it was the salts or the water or whatever but a very prominant brown foamy dirty looking ring formed around the tub. So somewhat grossed out we got out of the now cold tub, I took a cold shower to clean off but my wife did not have the nerve. We did have some drinks which eventually made things seem to go better through the night, etc. They did deliver breakfast, which by the way was simple, yet very delicious. I was pleased with breakfast. Since this was our fifth year we were trying to stay in good spirits, but that ended for me when after I told the keepers about the hot water problem, Which by the way they advertize the Jacuzzi's as the main attraction, I was told simply, "yeah the connected room had the same problem we are gonna look into it". OK fine whatever, but how about a discount? one free night w/o the problem? anything? No, not a thing.

Hello,
I would just like to encourage guests to look at the date on the reviews. A lot has changed since 2007 as you'll notice with the current reviews, all 5 stars! Our suites have all been completely remodeled and the beautiful decor of the romantic Pacific Northwest is brought out in all our suites. We have also changed hosts here at the Bed and Breakfast and outstanding guests satisfaction and a wonderful experience is something we strive to provide for everyone here at Pine River Ranch. I encourage you to visit us again at Pine River Ranch and see the wonderful changes for yourself!
Thanks,
Tim, Karen and the Pine River Ranch Crew

My wife and I stayed in the newest room on the main level. While we were pleased to hear no noise from others, we were really disappointed in the room size, the breakfast and the amount of hot water available for the tub. The room was smaller than depicted in advertising. The breakfast was great, but too small. The tub filled halfway and then the water went cold. Not conducive to romance! The owners were kind enough but not warm. However, the ambience could not be beat, and the best part of the room was the dual overstuffed recliners in front of the fireplace (zzz). Overall, an average B&B experience for a clearly above-average price. Would recommend only for travelers out looking to try everyplace once.

Stayed in the Chelan. Nice large room. Poor quality bath towels. I expected a gourmet breakfast. Ham and cheese omelet and fryed potatoes, breakfast drink, okay, definately not gourmet food for the price of over $200 per night. The room is downstairs in the main house and you can hear the noise of the room above.
