“Fantastic experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

This was our first visit to the Mountain Home Lodge and we had a fantastic time! We didn't really know what to expect other than the rave reviews that MHL had for accommodations, service, and food. Let me tell you, all the top-notch reviews are well earned! We opted for a forest-facing room and we were very happy! The privacy was great, the room immaculate, and the personal touch on amenities such as the toiletry basket, various reading materials throughout the room, and the complimentary port were all great. From the moment we walked in the door both Brad an Kathy made us feel very pampered without being intrusive. Along with Millie the dog and Cracker and Jack (the resident lodge kitties), Brad and Kathy are excellent hosts!

And then there was the food! Again, I saw rave reviews online about Chef Ron and his breakfast/dinner creations. After our first fantastic breakfast at the lodge, we opted to reserve a table for their prix fixe dinner. The four-course dinner was well worth the price and we would wholeheartedly recommend it. We also opted for Chef Ron's sack lunch that the lodge offers for $15 a person. The lunch was equally as delicious as the other meals including fresh baked cookies, fresh fruit/vegetables, gourmet turkey sandwiches, etc. Ron had them ready when we returned back from our hike on one of many of the lodge's hiking trails.

Long story short, my wife and I loved this place so much, we're already talking about booking another stay this fall/winter. Excellent rooms, fantastic and caring staff, and delicious food, all in a beautiful and peaceful environment. Thanks for a great experience!

We enjoyed meeting you two this past weekend as well and we are thrilled to read how much you enjoyed your stay. We know it is difficult to get away from one’s busy life and to hear what a grand time you had confirms we are doing our job to provide guests with special memories of a weekend enjoying each other.

This spring is a gorgeous one with plentiful wildflowers and beauty at the Lodge against the backdrop of the snow capped Cascades. Millie loves to join guests on their hikes and Jack and Cracker relish the attention the guests share with them as they bask in the sunshine on the decks.
Chef Ron grinned from ear to ear as we shared your review with him. He is passionate about his craft and uses his talents to provide us all with delicious cuisine using the seasons local highlights. We are all anxious about all the local fresh fruit and vegetables that will soon be here with the warmer weather ahead. The lodge vegetable and herb gardens and our orchards will provide Chef with lots of fresh ingredients as well as those from local growers and purveyors.
We will look forward to welcoming you back to Mountain Home Lodge later this year, maybe fall for a different kind of color.

Our best regards,
Kathy & Brad

Thanks you Brad for up grading us to the Cabin because we were the only ones there. Your place is truly heaven and the breath taking mountain views are memorable since the moment we arrived. Brad, Kathy, and Millie - you have been so accommodating and friendly. We loved our cozy Cabin with rocking chairs on the porch and a binocular bird watching. It was such a relaxing trip that we are thinking of coming back soon! =)

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and as they say “Timing” is everything. A corporate group had to reschedule their stay at the last minute, and we like to take those limited opportunities to upgrade guests whenever possible. You mentioned watching the birds and the Leavenworth Bird Fest is coming up later this month. Over the last few years this has become an activity many of our guests enjoy along with the spectacular wildflowers.

We too hope to see you again soon, maybe a winter stay with some snow shoeing and sledding on our 1700 toboggan run.

All The Best,
Brad

Brad and his crew make this experience heaven on earth. The resident chef is extrordinary! Having a beer in the hot tub while enjoying the mountain scenery was exquisite. Inner tubing down the hill was exhilarating. The snow cat ride up was so cool. We snacked on their granola all the way back to Portland. The cabins with the view & private 2 person jetted tubs are fantastic. Want to go back in the summer and hike some trails. Thanks to all of you!!!

Room Tip: individual cabins meet all your needs just have to go outside to get to the lodge

We are so happy to hear that your winter weekend on the mountain was perfect for you. It’s great to hear such nice praises. Chef Ron will be thrilled to read your review and will laugh knowing the granola never made it home. It is addicting we must agree! The resort is wonderful year round and we look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy a different season. The snows have melted here at the lower elevations and the wildflowers are blooming in the meadow. The warmth of summer will soon be upon us. Hiking, mtn. biking, paddle boarding, kayaking and golf are just a few of the activities to look forward to.

Sincerely, Brad

I just had the best weekend of my life at MHL! My partner and I got hitched!:) Our wedding weekend was way beyond anything we could have imagined. Brad and his family and staff were top notch and went way above expectations to make our weekend perfect. All of our family and friends are already talking about returning to the lodge in the near future. Linda and Carlos were so very kind and the food was fabulous.
Thank you so much Brad, Kathy, and family/Staff for making our weekend unforgettable. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers and we hope to return ASAP!:)
Warmest Wishes-
Jen and Rachel

Mountain Home Lodge has far and away the best service of any B&B, hotel, or lodge we have ever stayed at. The only place that has come close was our cruise in the Galapagos! This is truly the Schmidt family's passion and it shows through everything that they do.
We loved: snowshoeing to beautiful vistas on trails that were only used by the guests at the lodge, hot tubbing in the falling snow, the AMAZING meals (seriously - and at the rate they charge for dinner, it's a steal), the chocolates that kept making an appearance in our room, just watching nature "happen." This was our first time, but we'll definitely be coming back.

Room Tip: We loved the Moose Room! It has a view out back of the bird feeders which sometimes the deer nibble...

How wonderful to hear that this was the perfect birthday celebration weekend for you! We are so glad you had a super visit. We are humbled by such kind words of praise... and you are right, the Lodge is our, and our dedicated staffs, "passion". It is a joy as we have such fun and interesting clientele from all over the world to welcome to the mountain. Chef Ron's cuisine adds the finishing touches to a perfect holiday escape. We all love to share top notch hospitality with each of our guests to insure their visit is special like yours was. We strive to provide attentive, but not intrusive, service to each person so their experience is the best we can provide.
Our amazing location nestled in the pristine wilderness of the Cascades is the piece de resistance! It sets the perfect backdrop for privacy and romance and offers a host of recreation opportunities right out our door. We are so glad to hear that your visit was great. We look forward to future visits! Sincerely, Brad

Took my husband for a surprise weekend. This Lodge IS a piece of Heaven. Nestled in the trees on the mountainside....views are mezmorizing . It lightly snowed every day which added to the magic. We snowshoed each day. Had never done this before. Even if you are not an athlete give it a try. There is sledding, cross country skiing, and just sitting by the huge fireplace. People were playing cards and board games. A totally decompression weekend. Oh did I mention the food! Totally 5 stars !, A "foodies" delight!! Will go again!

Room Tip: The Cascade room on the main floor has double the window size than most rooms. Definitely get a moun...

Our tag line of "1000' closer to heaven" really does ring true doesn't it? It is hard to believe you are only a few hours drive away from the busy, and often hectic, city lifestyle... it feels like you are thousands of miles away from it when you are up on the mountain enjoying nature's beauty, recreation and serenity. Chef Ron will beam when we share your "5 star rating" on his cuisine. He loves creating each meal from the seasons freshest ingredients available to fuel your body after a busy day in the woods and your senses with enticing smells and colors. We are so glad to read you so enjoyed your weekend with us. We appreciate your generous review and look forward to welcoming you back for another visit.

Last weekend was our 5th consecutive year at Mountain Home Lodge. It just seems to get better and better every year. Jodi and I cherish our annual weekend trip to MHL. Not only are the Views and Snowshoe trips spectacular, the service and meals are FANTASTIC! We plan all of our outdoor excursions around meal times so we don't miss a thing. It has been great to get to know Brad, Kathy, Brecklyn and the rest of the staff. And it is heart warming we are on a first name basis with them.

Brad, please send our greetings to Kathy and tell her we look forward to seeing her on our 6th consecutive trip next year!!!!

Take Care,

Jim and Jodi

With so many special places in the world one can select for their precious vacation time, we are honored you continue to return to Mountain Home Lodge AND that you feel it only gets better each year!

The Lodge staff strives to insure each visitor is well cared for and fully enjoys their time on the mountain and we are so glad that has been your experience.
