“Almost in Heaven”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

If you want a truly relaxing time away try the Mountain Home Lodge in Leavenworth, WA. Go up a winding rode and come across a lodge tucked away in the mountains. It's like being in the Alps without leaving the country. If you're a TV fanatic this is not for you. But if you like hiking, gourmet dining and visits to nearby wineries this is definitely it. Brad and Kathy are fantastic hosts who love to tell you about nearby activities. We go at least once a year and come back already planning our next trip. Try it, you'll love it.

Room Tip: We stay in the main lodge and always go for the Sportsman room or the Mountain View room.

When we bought the Lodge close to 19 years ago (wow!) we inherited an old van that had the tag line of "1,000 feet closer to Heaven" painted on it. We agree with this like you do in your nice review. The resort is a gem nestled in a spectacular location in the gorgeous WA Cascades. The renewing power of nature's beauty and wonder does us all good. It is amazing how magical this escape is for so many. Taking a breather from the hectic lifestyles of today is so important and one we are glad to be able to share with our guests. Thank you for your gracious compliments and we too look forward to sharing the MHL experience with you again this next year. Fondly, Brad and Kathy

Better half and I stayed here the end of September and the stay was simply great. My brother and his wife (reviewing elsewhere) were there at the same time. We all thoroughly enjoyed the stay, the breakfast and room was absolutely fantastic. Drive up to it was a little disconcerting and you had to have faith that, yes, you are on the right road, and yes, you will end up somewhere worth going to. Views of the countryside were great, and I can just imagine what it is like to be there all snowed in. It would really be great.

Room Tip: They are all great, but be aware there is NO Elevator and you will be climbing stairs to your room.

Thank you for your nice review. Mountain Home Lodge does provide an amazing retreat for couples and intimate reunions with family such as you experienced. Less than 3 miles from the busy village below on the valley floor, the resort rewards those who travel off the beat and track with a hidden treasure. We are glad we could share a piece of our heaven on earth with you all. We will look forward to welcoming you back if your travels bring you to the Cascades again. Warm regards, Brad, Kathy and Brecklyn and our great staff

Just believe all the superlatives in the other reviews. We didn't pay extra for the double rainbow over the mountains that came with early coffee, but we just missed the herd of elk in the meadow beyond the deck.

Room Tip: The views in the common rooms are so close and so good that picking a "forest view" room n...

If your looking for a place to relax, enjoy the view, and peace and quiet this is the place. My partner and I went here with two other friends for his birthday and the staff made us feel like family from the moment I made the reservation. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was equally as good. This place is a must stay in my book.

Brad and his daughter Bricklyn, truly make you feel at home. The food is wonderful, the rooms cozy and the views from the deck are out of this world.
As the sign says 1000 feet nearer to heaven, and it certainly was a heavenly weekend.

We enjoyed sharing our special escape in the Cascades with you too. The view is inspiring with the majestic mountains literally in our front yard! We will pass onto Chef Ron your accolades regarding his delicious culinary delights. Have a great holiday season ahead and we will look forward to welcoming you "home" to the mountain perhaps for a future visit.

Sincerely, Brad and the MHL team

Lovely rustic lodge nestled in the middle of the most beautiful hills, definitely looks like a miniature version of the Alps. Brad and Kathy's property sits on about 10 acres I believe, then beyond that is land trust with multiple beautiful trails which were truly the highlight of our two night stay at this property. The trails were well marked and some were easily traversed, and some were not. We felt like we earned our delicious breakfast that day for sure! The lodge is immaculately clean but it is very rustic and that's its charm of course. We stayed in the Mountain Trout room on the 2nd floor and the bed was comfortable and the linens high quality. The bathroom was dated, and the shower was small, no tub in this room. We could hear through the walls at times, but it didn't bother us. If you're a light sleeper, you may ask for an upstairs room or one of the cabins. There are no televisions in the bedrooms as far as I could tell, but there is a movie room downstairs with a communal television and lots of movies to choose from. We didn't have cell coverage up there but Brad has Wi-Fi so we were able to communicate via email if we needed to check on the kids. Leavenworth is a skip away but we only spent a few hours there, it's very crowded, and while the town is cute and unique, basically all you do there is shop and eat and wrestle with the crowds (including numerous dogs) unless you are there mid-week. We stayed mostly at Mountain Home, drinking in the solitude and quiet of the property and the amazing views. Brad and Kathy were excellent hosts, providing us with water bottles for our hike, and Chef Ron prepared a delicious dinner Saturday night, definitely worth the extra dollars to participate in that exclusive perk. Thank you for sharing your retreat!

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at Mountain Home Lodge with others. Autumn is a gorgeous time of the year to enjoy all the great hiking right out our door and in the area. Sun filled days and cool nights are ideal for adventures. The serenity of the resort is ideal for renewal of body and spirit.
Situated on a 20 acre meadow, the Lodge environs offer a range of rooms from cozy lodge bedrooms to the seclusion of private cabins. Each features custom decor and amenities. The suite and cabins offer jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces while the other lodge rooms have a private bathroom with shower. The bounty of the local fall harvest inspires Chef Ron's welcoming breakfasts and intimate dinners. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your dining experiences.
Thank you again for your patronage. Warmly, Brad and Kathy, proprietors

My husband and I went for our anniversary and were joined by my sister and brother-in-law for the weekend. We had a fabulous time enjoying Oktoberfest, hiking in the hills behind the lodge, delicious meals and a picnic lunch (packed by the lodge) that we took on a 4 wheeling trek up the forest service roads to Sugar Loaf Lookout. We had an absolutely fabulous time and would highly recommend Mountain Home Lodge! We can't wait to visit again in the snow!

Thank you for making Mountain Home Lodge a part of your anniversary celebration and writing such a kind review. It was great to meet you and your husband and hearing about your experience at the Lodge and your travels around our area especially atop Sugar Loaf Look Out. Hopefully we'll see you this winter season. We had an opportunity to expand our trails especially for snowshoeing that now overlook the entire Leavenworth Valley. Perhaps Chef Ron can pack another one of those lunches for a day of trekking and some snowmobiling on Wedge Mountain too. All The Best. Sincerely, Brad, Kathy & The MHL Staff.
