This 3.5 mile loop will take perhaps 2 hours if you dawdle a bit and enjoy the scenery. It is, basically, a level hike (very small elevation gains) on a well-maintained trail through surprisingly varied vegetation given the short nature of the hike, a good deal of which is along Icicle Creek, though sections of it wander away from the creek as well. This would be a great place to visit on a warm day, and even though we caught some light rain on our hike, we stayed pretty dry, in part due to the forest canopy. The river is beautiful and the surrounding area and views are lovely as well.

Icicle Gorge trail is a nice easy 4 mile loop that gives you a nice view of the gushing stream. Pathways are easy to navigate, with ups and downs, to make the walk more interesting.

Yes, you have to work a wee bit to get here. 16 miles from Leavenworth, the last 3 miles or so unpaved. Suck it up. It's worth it.

The loop is a 4-ish-mile loop, from the well-signed parking lot back to itself. Most hikers seem to start headed downstream (i.e. the best-signed direction). This leads you to the highlight of the hike in maybe 20 minutes or so, a bridge over the lower part of the Icicle Gorge. It's great. It's amazing. The water is intense. You can imagine the horror/thrill of falling in, but then trot back to your car and have a Kit-Kat if you need. Or you can finish the loop, which actually traverses a wide range of micro settings, including a small bog, some nice rocks, a meadow, a campground, and a really annoying woodsy section in which the trail follows EVERY curve of the terrain. All of which has great peek-a-boos of different areas of the intense world of Icicle Creek.

It's easy, it wasn't too crowded, and it's pretty level. Combine that with very high spring melt-off waters and peek-a-boos of the high mountains, and you've got a really nice 2-3 hour getaway just a wee bit from the sausages and beer of Leavenworth. Seriously, you probably need to burn off some calories from all that sauerbraten, don't you?

A very nice walk in the woods.

This is a great trail, takes a couple of hours and has a lot a varied terrain to check out. The river gorge is beautiful and the open vistas are stunning as well. The walk is flat too, so it's great for young and old alike!

Took this trail early in the morning before heading out of town. Had the trail all to ourselves until the end where we ran into a couple of folks. It's very easy and the gorge is really quite nice so it's worth the trip/time to go and see it.
