We recently relocated from Northern California to the Puget Sound area. When it threatened to rain for the first time all summer, we decided to explore Eastern Washington. We ended up stopping in Leavenworth, which was pretty much a zoo on a Saturday in August. Waterfront Park, however, is a real gem. The Wenatchee River is gentle, pretty, and clean as it flows through town. There were many, many inner tubers (call and make a reservation in advance), and we watched in envy--it looked so fun! The weather was California-like, but the Waterfront Park was largely shaded and cool. What a find!
