“Retro but not in a good way”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

Decor-late 60's which could be a good thing, if it has been updated since the 60's. There was about a two inch gap under the front door which let in all kinds of cold air and the snow as it slid off the roof. The bathroom heater didn't work, it was FREEZING in there and the mirror, the tiny thing that it was, was mounted crooked. I think the 20" tv was older than me and I am a 70's classic.

Beds-one word should cover it....Saggy!!!

Wireless internet-pretty much non-existent and according to the book in the room it is only available in select rooms (which it doesn't say anywhere on their website). We were about 100' from the office, if you can't get reception there well evidently you have to go to the library or Starbucks like I did.

Breakfast bar-we tried to eat breakfast here one morning but there was another couple that was struggling (to say the least) with the waffle maker. Since the area for breakfast was a one butt bar and there was only a small love seat to seat and eat at we decided to skip it.

Pet friendly-that is a plus

Location-we walked into Leavenworth with no problem

Spent Thanksgiving weekend in a 2 bedroom with kitchen. Room was as described, slightley dated, carpet somewhat worn, terrible pillows, it was clean & roomy. Stayed there because it accepted pets. The downside was that the room had bedding for 4, we had 4 adults & a small child that the hotel knew about before we arrived. However, we were short on bathroom towels & had no kitchen towels or dishcloths. As far as dishes we had 3 dinner plates, 3 bowls, 1 salad plate, 2 forks, 3 spoons & 1 knife. When I contacted the office I was told that they had new housekeepers & they had no more spare utensils. They gave us some plastic forks & 1 more plate, we rented a kitchen unit so that we could eat there, however we didn't plan to eat in shifts!

We have stayed at the Evergreen many times over the last 25 years and have seen a steady decline in the property. We stayed there over the weekend because it was the only affordable, pet friendly, game in town, and we were pleasantly surprised. It was cleaner, and better maintained. The room had been upgraded since our last visit. The staff was helpful and friendly. That being said, it was a pleasant stay.

My husband, daughter, her fiance and I wanted to stay overnight in Leavenworth, WA. We have a little dog so looked at available properties. We chose this one because it offered a two bedroom suite. On arrival we discovered that the suite was actually the top of a small house that was purchased along with a couple of others close to the original inn. It was a remodelled affair that was certainly not up to code but did provide us with what was promised. I would not stay again as it was just too slapped together. The complimentary breakfast was sparse and patrons were crammed into a small space fighting for food. We could see a half inch of daylight above and below the main door to the outside of the suite. A hot tub was available in the front yard of the neighboring house.

I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We chose it only because most of the other hotels in town were too full to accommodate our party of 5. The Evergreen gave us two side by side rooms at very low prices. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms were not fancy but were clean and quite roomy. Beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. We chose rooms in the "Annex" north of the main hotel buildings. This meant a longer walk for ice and breakfast and no wireless internet in our room. If you need wifi, you need to book a room nearer the office.

Considering the price, we were quite pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: If wifi is important to you, verify with the hotel staff which rooms have internet access

Our room was in the adjacent building across the road from the main motel buildings, upstairs from businesses. The room itself was clean and quiet but we were on the back side of the building. It would have been nice to have a table instead of an end table. There was plenty of room for a small table. The breakfast area was quite small and very little room to sit down to eat. We had to eat outside and it was cold that morning. The wireless internet did not work at all. If we go to Leavenworth again we will be staying somewhere else.

We reviewed the Evergreen Inns website many times before making our final decision. The description online of the room was that you had to walk through a bedroom to get to the bathroom. I am pregnant and we were staying with another couple and felt it would be very disruptive to their sleep if someone was walking through their bedroom at night to go to the bathroom so I called the hotel three different times and asked if we would have to walk through someone’s bedroom to get to the bathroom and was told no three different times that the bathroom had its own entrance. They also have very nice pictures online of their hotel rooms however none of those pictures are accurate.

I was shocked when I pulled up and the front of the hotel looks nothing like the front of the hotel online. The person who took my money for the reservation had family hanging out with her in the lobby. Once we received our room key I was shocked when we opened the door and the room looked nothing like their online pictures. We had two rooms and only one TV and one air conditioner that might have worked better had it not been from 1960. It was 90+ degrees in Leavenworth that weekend. The floors were very dirty the chair they had were dirty, they had a sign in the bathroom that asked you not to stain their towels or you would be charged a $25.00 fee however the sheets that I had to sleep on have many stains on them. The kitchen sink never shut off and there was a slow drip that you had to listen to on a nightly basis. The bathroom was no bigger then a closet and the knob to turn the shower to hot and cold just turned all the way around and there was NEVER any hot water. The water pressure was horrible. One second it was full blast the next it was a drip. Nothing like being blasted with cold water. The room stunk from the moment you walked in the door and the hotel hot tub was VERY dirty. This looked like a rent by the hour motel and it was nothing they had described online. They also say that they have free wi-fi however it doesn’t work and you had to get a password from the hotel and once you entered that password it asked you to purchase units. It stated on the website that it was FREE….. RUN FROM THIS HOTEL don’t stay here it’s a waste of money and you will be very disappointed. For just a little more you can stay in a nice hotel.
