“A Pure Slice Of Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

The setting is pretty special. The only noise we heard from from boats, birds and seals! The raised platform bed was perfect to take in the view while relaxing in a very comfy bed. The property has a pretty special layout/grounds to enjoy. Our deck was very large and private. Just a short stroll up a fairly steep hill and you are in town. Mynda, the innkeeper was especially nice and walked us to our room. (#5) A very peaceful slice of heaven to stay here. Will do it again!

Room Tip: There are only 11 rooms and I don't think a single bad one. I believe all but one are right on...

While visiting relatives on Whidbey Island, my husband & I were surprised with a night's stay at the Boatyard Inn as a belated birthday present(!). And a great gift it was! It has the friendliness of a small town inn (warm & welcoming) but the appointment of a sophisticated accommodation. We ended up meeting up with several friends & family that day and after dinner we all came back to our spacious room and it was like having our own amazing apartment overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound. The bed & linens provided us with an excellent night's sleep and the shower was fantastic. (Tiny recommendation: ask guests when they arrive if they'd like a newspaper delivered to their room the next morning...it was the only thing missing to go with our coffee, patio & view...even so, when I called down to the office to see if they had any, they brought me the one copy they had for their personal use). Can't recommend it enough. Thanks Boatyard Inn and my brother & sister-in-law for a terrific experience! (Also, walk over to the Useless Bay Coffee Co. on 2nd Street for a fantastic breakfast & then to Good Cheer Thrift Store on Anthes Ave. for some good finds.)

The Boatyard never lets us down. Accomodations were perfect. Clean room, comfortable beds, hot showers, beautiful view and amazing staff. We stayed in a loft suite with our boys and dog. The dog thinks this is our home away from home and so do we!! Langley was buzzing with activity and we had plenty to do and see.

My daughter and I were given an upgrade from a suite w/one balcony to a suite with two balconies overlooking the water. Very nice surprise! The room was beautiful with a sitting area, big screen TV, kitchen, and of course, the balconies. More of a condo feel than a hotel room., which I really loved. We also had access to many amenities, such as: binoculars, books, coffee/hot chocolate, etc. These personalized touches really makes one feel special. It is also a short walk into town and we did go out for a light dinner at Prima Bistro (reviewed separately). Again, the staff at the Boatyard Inn was very friendly, helpful, and efficient and we absolutely loved the room, location, and views! We will definitely come back and certainly recommend this inn to friends and family.

We chose the Boatyard Inn in Langley on a recent getaway because they were pet-friendly. They have one dedicated room for travelers with pets, and this can be hard to find. We discovered that this is a high quality inn with very nicely done rooms. Each has a view to the West of Saratoga Passage and beautiful sunrises. The owner/manager was very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, as is typical of island life, but the place is truly first class. It's very quiet at night, and just a very short walk into town, so a perfect location. We look forward to coming back.

If you are looking for a beautiful setting mixed with peaceful and calm, this is the place for you!! The room I was in (Loft #4) was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had the most amazing view. The deck is incredible, you could cozy up outside since there is a nice bench the full length of the deck. The beds inside are so cozy and comfortable and the way the light comes in first thing in the morning is mesmerizing! And outside of the Inn is awesome too. There's a little courtyard with a grill and a few other little tucked away spots. A perfect place for rest and relaxation and I think it would make a beautiful romantic getaway!!

Based on the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, I chose the Boatyard Inn for a 3 day extension of a trip to Seattle with my husband. The positive reviews are not an exaggeration! My husband and I were very pleased with the location right on the water with amazing views and the peaceful sound of the waves. The layout of Unit 1 (and maybe others too) meant we could watch the pink glow of the sunrise in the Cascade mountains beyond the waters of the Saratoga Pass right from our bed.

We also liked the private deck facing the water, comfortable bed and furniture, high quality linens and toiletries, all with a well outfitted small kitchen area. We did not cook any meals, but it was nice to have the option. Our favorite meal was dinner at the popular Prima Bistro in Langley so make a reservation once you know when you want to eat there. Nice to eat out on the Bistro's rooftop deck if the weather cooperates.

The Boatyard Inn is an easy couple minutes walk from the main streets of Langley so the Inn feels somewhat secluded without being far from restuarants and shops. Next to the Inn is Whidbey Island Kayaking Company, also highly recommended. I took a 2 hour morning kayak tour which gave me a new perspective of the island. (See my review on TripAdvisor about this if you want more details.)

The Inn is very, very well managed. Everyone I spoke with before my visit and during my stay were professional, well informed and very warm and friendly. The high level of cleanliness throughout the property reflects the high quality level of management at the Inn. Our only small complaint was the weak strength of the WiFi signal, but that should be something easily fixed by the owners if they choose to do so.

We drove from Seattle to Whidbey Island via the northern route to the island with a stop for a yummy lunch at the Calico Cafe in Mt Vernon and still had a few hours to hike on trails and walk on the bridge at Deception Pass State Park. On the way home to San Diego via Seatac airport we took the Washington State ferry (leaves every half hour from Clinton near Langley). Be sure to allow extra time to get the car onto the ferry if you have any time constraints. We had to wait in line about 45 mins before driving onto the ferry even at mid-day on a weekday. The ferry crossing itself was only about 15 mins. We enjoyed the pretty views from the deck as we got out of the car and walked to the front of the ferry during the crossing.

In summary, the Boatyard Inn was a perfect and peaceful place to stay for a 3 day visit to Whidbey Island!
