“Saratoga Inn is a great getaway spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2008

We like the location of the Saratoga Inn, and the rooms are cozy and luxurious, if sometimes tight. The inn welcomes visitors with a broad porch and rocking chairs for gazing out at the Saratoga Passage. The grounds are tidy and attractive- just what you want from a place like this.

It's a short walk to the village shops and restaurants. I like the fact that there are several movies available at no charge, as well as games.

Things we love about the place: the view, the comfy beds, the soothing atmosphere, and a couple of chairs for eating dinner in. I also like the fact that they provide breakfast with a hot protein option. And, I like the fact that there's always coffee, tea and cocoa available, as well as soft drinks, at no extra charge.

What has not been not up to expectations- the food. We have visited many times. Sometimes the breakfast has been pretty tasty (it has been the last 2-3 trips) and sometimes bordering on awful. They put cookies out all the time (yeah!) but they are never very good, even though they are homemade (bummer). For the price, we expect much better food quality. We have always skipped the cocktail hour- the food never looked very appetizing, the wine is cheap, and the guests come in like hawks to clear the platters so that they are often empty, anyway. Food in general is this Inn's weakness.

Also, though I'm guessing other guests love these things, we could do without them, especially if it helped trim the price: teddy bears on the beds, the turn-down service which often comes at an inconvenient time, robes in the bathroom.

We once stayed in the early wintertime. There was a snowstorm and the power went out on the island for most of our stay. We had rented the most expensive room for a couple nights and were unable to enjoy it.

Still ,we go back because it's a little bit of affordable luxury in a beautiful spot, and we love the town of Langley (when the lights are on!).

This property had a fantastic location and staff. The food was very good as well. We instantly felt like part of the family when we arrived. Also, the owners are planning to make some upgrades to the linens, etc. over the course of the next year. The place was already in great shape, but a few updates here and there will make it even better. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable stay, in a great location and with great service, this is the place!

We found the hotel as advertised on their website, comfortable and new. Our room was on the side away from the wonderful view and the street, consequently, it was very quiet, and we could stand on our second floor balcony and look up at the stars.
In the morning they served breakfast burritos and a quiche, with fruit and english muffins. Afterwards we sat in the rocking chairs on the porch and watched the aformentioned wonderful view, the traffic, and lots of walkers.
The weekend was a busy one for them, with three weddings, and the staff was still very wam and friendly. Twice I overheard the staff phoning around to ask for lodgings for visitors who stopped by the full hotel without reservations.

I would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel with clean and spacious rooms (we stayed in Room 6, which was very nice) and a great view of the water. Breakfast was yummy and the staff was very polite and helpful.

We had stayed at the Green Gables Inn in Monterey, another Four Sisters Inn establishment, and knew we couldn't go wrong with the Saratoga Inn when we needed to find a place to stay on Whidbey Island for a family wedding.
The service was impeccable. The breakfasts were always looked forward to, as were the variety of cookies they would have in the cookie jar that day.
Our experience was one we will definitely remember and look forward to having again.

Gorgeous location - but on a busy street. The beds were not very comfy and the sheets a little scratchy. Breakfast was late so had to run down to the store in order to make the ferry. They try very hard and are very friendly - will look for another place in Langley next time!
