“Great location, fabulous amenities, wonderful experience.”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

The Saratoga Inn is a great place to stay with an outstanding staff, which includes a talented chef.

Sweeping views of the Passage on the front side, and just a short stroll around the corner from everything in Langley are just two items of a long list of why we'll be returning.

A group of friends who share the love of stitching/Needlepoint spent a lovely long weekend right before Thanksgiving. The staff was so friendly & helpful, the Inn was also warm & welcoming! We've already made plans to return in 2013 for TWO weekends! Thanks to all of the staff!!
The breakfasts & afternoon treats were fabulous, and my room was great. Plan to also return with my husband!!

Your needlepoint group is so cheerful, we are delighted that all of you will be returning again next year. We look forward to your next visit with your husband, if it is a special occasion, please let us know when making your reservation ... we may have a surprise for you!

Happy New Year to you and all your needlepoint friends!

The inn accomodated 12 needlepointers who spent 3 days, stitching, visiting, laughing and indulging ourselves. The breakfasts started the days off just right. Something for everyone. The coffee pot was never empty and we enjoyed treats throughout the day - all prepared on site.
Every single person intends to return this spring.
As a LEAF owner, I especially appreciated the two Blink stations on the property; these make Saratoga Inn and Langley a fabulous destination for EV owners who need a break from Seattle.

This is good news for the Inn .... the needle-pointers were most delightful to have at the Inn. We were particularly enthused to see your electric vehicle at the newly installed charging stations. We have been working with Ecotality to make sure that our guests continue to receive a free charge while at the Inn. Happy New Year!

When my husband and I became engaged, we came to the Saratoga Inn to celebrate ... that was 5 years ago. We loved it so much, we've been coming back on our wedding anniversary ever since. The Inn is warm and inviting, and serves a wonderful breakfast (vegetarian) every morning. After a day touring Whidbey Island (small towns, wineries, parks, beaches) we love returning to the inn for afternoon appetizers and wine, and my husband can't help doing a late-night cookie raid before he retires for the night. We always book a room overlooking Saratoga Passage where we can see the lights of north Everett in the distance at night, and watch the bald eagles in flight each morning. Every room we've booked to date has been roomy and comfortable. Our hosts and chefs always go the extra mile for us ... saving breakfast leftovers for a midnight snack, pulling information off the internet for a local winery, setting up dinner reservations at a local restaurant, placing chocolates on our pillows with evening turn-down service, making suggestions for the day's activities, etc. We're made to feel very special every day! We will definitely be returning to the Saratoga Inn for future anniversaries!

Saratoga Inn practices a remarkable attention to detail. The inn is owned and closely managed by a retired architect and his wife. They pay a lot of attention to creating an inviting, relaxing inn experience. Reasonably priced for the location and quality, they give you place to call home while visiting Whidbey Island. The lodge is on the egde of the town of Langley, WA. Not more than a five minute walk to numerous restaurants, a market, wine shops, and coffee shops.

We would point out that there is a little road noise at first light as folks head for the ferry landing. This is not NYC or LA noise ...its just remarkable because the rest of the time the place is very quite and peaceful. We intend to stay again.

Room Tip: the carriage house is a fully equipped studio apartment... just bring your clothing.

Thank you for your recent stay at the Saratoga Inn and your kind comments. When we selected the site for the Inn, we valued the high bluff views of Saratoga Passage and the Cascade Mountains, the convenient walking access to nearby shops and restaurants, and the excellent sun exposure. The trade off for the site was its proximity to the roadway, which is generally not a problem until the early morning commuter breaks the silence of the quiet evenings. The original construction used Pella windows, but two years ago, we began our replacement program with Anderson windows, which have improved the sound attenuation qualities considerably. The Carriage House is scheduled for the next round of replacments. The upper floor windows, Rms. 6,7,8,9,10,14, and 15 have already been replaced.

We have noted that you are repeat guests so we look forward to your next visit to the Island.

The Inn will never be perfect but each guest comment helps us move in the right direction. Thank you and we loof forward to your next visit.

When we walked through the front door at Saratoga we met a friendly young woman who made the Inn feel like a home—our home—as she described its amenities. After checking in we went to our room where, through the large window, we watched a pair of bald eagles circling above Puget Sound (the Saratoga Passage) directly across the street. The birds were an accurate precursor to two enjoyable days we were to experience in and around the island town of Langley.

Nothing about Saratoga disappointed. Staff was genuinely friendly and responsive. An after-hours call for a needed item was answered on the second ring and the “problem” resolved just as quickly. Chef Susan added artistry to the foods she prepared. Our room wasn’t the largest but lacked nothing—gas fireplace, turn-down service, et cetera. The common room for guests is one of the finest we’ve enjoyed, a place to unwind with a glass of wine or chat with other guests (don’t overlook the complimentary coffee and tea, and cookies—if there are any left!). While the Inn does cater to business people (a conference room is available), it retains a comfortable elegance for its tourist clientele.

As for location, the Inn sits on a slope above town, where you're a short and pleasant walk away from restaurants, coffee shops, specialty stores, and galleries (and the friendly folks who run them.) Visitors expecting larger and numerous storefronts are warned: you won't find those in Langley—they're on the north end of the island, in Oak Harbor.

We came to Whidbey Island hoping to see whales (maybe next time) and expecting rain (every day), and will gladly return to the Saratoga Inn the next time we visit the area.

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Inn with others on TA. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay even though it was drizzly and the whales are not to be seen. The high bluff site does afford a nice view of them when they frolic in Saratoga Passage, and we have binoculars available for your use as well ... so, come back again!

In spite of the weather and no whales, you had a positive two night visit to Whidbey Island. We suspect that your are generally positive people but thanks for all the kind comments regarding our staff and the Inn; they loved reading them ... Happy Holidays!

We stayed at the Saratoga Inn last week based on a recommendation in Karen Brown's book on Pacific NW itineraries. Having stayed at many B&B's all over the world over the years, we rank this high up on our list of best stays. The view from our room was lovely & the staff is friendly, inviting and helpful which is the best part. The room was very comfortable and clean - enjoyed a glass of wine & the warm fireplace as we watched election night coverage! The turn down service with chocolates, the free yoga class which we attended along with Jenny the owner, the DVD selection for free checkout and the endless supply of cookies, coffee, tea & hot chocolate are great touches. The hot, freshly made breakfast with great variety and appetizers at wine/tea time were outstanding. Great value - highly recommend this property.
