In this sleepy town, we were surprised on a Wednesday night to find a crowded restaurant. What all diners seemed to know was that this Italian style restaurant had good food with huge servings. Splitting a plate is recommended. The garlic and spice infused oil served with fresh rolls was great, although it stayed with us for quite some time....

We just arrived in La Connor and had no idea where to eat when we stumbled upon this restaurant. With no reservation, we were welcomed and had a delicious Italian meal with very attentive servers. The servings were plentiful and flavourful. There were special items for the day as well as many choices on the regular menu. It seemed like there were several tables of locals in this restaurant, as well as tourists - always a good sign to see locals eating in a place.

My husband and I spent the weekend in La Conner, WA., for my birthday celebration this past weekend. He made reservations at this restaurant because it had a great Italian wne list - over 60 choices - and because we both love good Italian food. This restaurant opened in July, has been completely remodeled with new owners. We were seated by a very eager and gracious young man as there is no at the front to greet you when you come into the restaurant. We were then left to look at the very extensive menu and look over the wine list. Our waiter arrived and asked if we would like some wine and we asked about a couple of bottles and he was not knowledgeable of any of the wines so we could select something we knew or could just take a guess.
We ordered our food, both of them the specials of the evening. Our bottle of wine came and it was delicious and we felt great we had made such a great choice! It was a good thing because we waited over an hour and a half for our dinner to arrive - mine hot ...my husband ice cold, like it just came out of the fridge. We sent it back and about 20 minutes later, his arrived warmer but not hot. We asked them to pack up our food for travel and received our bill of over $100, no explanation of why the wait was so long and why the food was so cold. No offer to take anything off the bill or to even ask why we wanted our food to go.

The decor is beautiful, the staff is young and eager to please, the serving staff leaves a lot to be desired. It is new and I think working out the kinks for the dinner service will come. With large tables of 8-10 people, possibly they choose to serve them first and then take the smaller tables afterwards? We will try it again because it is a great addition to LaConner and offers a nice balance of more casual restaurants and pubs.

We will go back!

I have eaten here three times in the past three weeks, every time is delicious! I cook a lot of Italian food at home, it's great to be able to eat out and enjoy each meal. The Pollo Limone is amazing and the Gnokie is wonderful! Kuddos to a new family friendly resturant in my home town!!!!
