Description: The La Conner Pub & Eatery is a full service waterfront restaurant and pub located on the Swinomish Channel in downtown La Conner, Washington. The locals know us as The La Conner Tavern (A.K.A. "The Tav") since we've been here forever! Our relaxed atmosphere is perfect for families as well as those who want a taste of local hospitality along with good, affordable food.

It's not fancy but the food, service and cost puts it up there. Worth going to if you're not snobby.

La Conner Pub and Eatery has a rustic hometown feel to it: a long bar with legendary locals' nameplates at their favorite barstools; a freestanding fireplace back near the dining area; and plenty of nautical treasures hanging from the walls. As you walk back to sit in the dining area which looks over the Swinomish channel, the uneven floor makes you think you are on a moving ship! The food is typical maritime bar fare--good fish 'n' chips, thick clam strips and healthy-sized burgers. Local fresh seafood such as oysters, clams and mussels can also be had. The waitstaff are pleasant and friendly--be patient when it's busy, they'll take care of you. In season, there's a good mix of local characters and tourists. If you're thirsty try their dark hard cider on tap from Spire!

We've been to this Pub & Eatery perhaps several times over the past few years, and the experience has been fairly consistent. It sits perched above the Swinomish Channel, with most of the seating having some view of it, more so during the nicer weather when they have deck seating, where the "exposure" can get bothersome for the folic-ally-challenged. It's tables and chairs, no booths here.

Enter through the front door, and you walk through the bar, with a pool table that's cleverly anchored on an uneven floor. There's also a side entrance that bypasses the bar portion, though one has an open view of it to one's left, the bar is well lit. Service has consistently been lackluster, but after a couple of times below average, this time was average, though that was only after a long wait for us to get our initial contact. Most of us had seafood, the captain's plate is very good, notably the shrimp, the fried clams and oysters good, and the fish - while large - are flat in taste. The baked potato, salad, and included bread were good. Portions were ample enough to fill up the three generations that ate at this meal.

We visited on a Saturday, an hour before sunset, the dining room crowded, but we still got seated in a satisfactory time, in time to enjoy some view, while (free) street parking was not difficult to find. During the summer, this would be more difficult to do. The town is still charming, not overbuilt yet, and I've visited the town over about the past 40 years.

Love the soup at LCP, but the fish and chips have become greasy. Used to be a sure thing for lunch and now it's just so so. Sorry!

Good cold beer; old school tavern, nice experience and FUN! Good fish and chips, music selection out of the juke box was a hit!
