We have stayed at the Hotel Planter several times over the years, and have always enjoyed our stay. This hotel in right on the main street in La Conner, so we were steps from the shops and restaurants. The hotel itself does not have dining facilities, but restaurants are very close; we had breakfast right across the street. This is a great location for visiting the Skagit Valley during the Tulip Festival, but we have enjoyed visiting just to spend time in La Conner. Also a great spot for boaters who need a room on shore. The very restful courtyard is like a hidden gem!

My husband and I had been apart for five months - he at our home in Winnipeg while I completed a grueling 5 month course at university in Vancouver. We planned a three-day trip together right after I graduated, and we could not have selected a better place. I have always loved La Conner, but had never stayed at the Hotel Planter. From the moment I booked our room with the owner -- who was very kind and accommodating over the phone -- until the day we reluctantly had to leave the hotel for home, we were treated as honoured guests. The hotel, nearly a hundred years old, has been lovingly restored; our room was lovely, beautifully decorated and appointed, and very airy due to the high ceilings. The huge windows looked out upon the delightfully whimsical courtyard that boasts a proliferation of installations by local artists, and an abundance of trees and greenery (and a hot tub!). Both nights we stayed there, we took bread, cheese and wine out to the courtyard in the early evening, and the staff were extremely accommodating with glasses and a corkscrew. They advised us on the different places to eat, what the ambiance of each was, and invited us to check their book of menus for each place, advising the type and cost of meals offered. Our three days went fast; the solicitousness of the owner and staff, and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel were all exactly what we needed.

Also, of course, the Hotel Planter is perfectly situated; it is right on the main street of La Conner, houses it's own art gallery, I believe, and sits cheek by jowl with a tremendous variety of restaurants, bookstores, pubs, shops, and ice cream stores that all run parallel to the water. I could not say enough about this lovely hotel, except that any time we are in La Conner, you will find us at the Hotel Planter! We would like to thank the staff at the Hotel Planter for a perfectly relaxing three days!

Hotel Planter with all it's charm is perfectly situated in the town of LaConner. Walking distance to all the shopping and wonderful restaurants. You will find something for everyone on & off their main street including incredible art, antiques, clothing, toys, jewelry along with very friendly people.

This historic hotel has been nicely restored. My room was very comfortable and met all my needs. I enjoyed being able to walk to all the shops and restaurants for which LaConner is famous.

This hotel was a big surprise in a wonderful small northwest community. We discoved the Hotel Planter one spring during Tulip Time. The location is perfect.....just a short 1 hour from
Seattle....and one hour from Vancouver, BC. It is also on the way to the Victoria ferry dock in Anacortes, WA......making it a charming and comfortable spot to use as a home base. We live in las Vegas, which is a nice place to vacation also, but it does not have the charm,
ambience and quaintness of La Connor and the Hotel Planter. We will go back many times.

i chose the Planter instead of a bed and breakfast for two reasons. one it is right in the heart of LA Conner so i could drop off my treasures and take a little relax whenever i wanted and two it is right across the street from the best breakfast cafe ever
my room looked into the courtyard with its sculptures massive trees and hot tub. the second night i was there was the best as a storm hit after dark and i sat in the hot tub cozy and comfy while the wind and rain put on a show.
