“Italian omelette was truly amazing!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012 via mobile

This has become a favorite restaurant after only two visits! It appears to be always busy, but I say it's worth the wait if there is a line. Food and drinks are a little pricy so save up and treat yourself.

“I rarely rate a restaurant poorly, but George's isn't worth the money”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

I cautiously approached the idea of breakfast at George's because of inconsistent prior reviews, but decided, "what the heck", I'd give it a try. It was Saturday morning, the place was busy, so it must have some good points. Problem is, there's not enough good points to overcome some serious inadequacies.

Good points:
1) Greeted pleasantly upon arrival and seated promptly;
2) The breakfast menu is varied, and portions generous.
3) The food is okay, but not worthy of prices charged. That's it for the good points.

Not-so-good points:
1) Since you can't bring in your own coffee (and yes, they do make lattes -- a prior reviewer was wrong on that point), you hope that their coffee is decent. It isn't. It doesn't taste good and is weak;
2) Service is poor to mediocre (at best). Good breakfast restaurants manage to circulate staff regularly to fill up empty cups (and heat up half-empty cups). Not here. Every time I wanted a coffee refresh on an empty cup, I had to hail a server -- and they don't even come around often enough to be hailed.
3) Not once did a server, after the food was served, come by to ask how the breakfast was tasting.
4) The food arrived at the table lukewarm, even though the person who served it came directly from the kitchen.

Frankly, I think the restaurant is significantly understaffed. The poor experience takes away from decent food (although not served piping hot), and overall diminishes the value of prices paid. Needless to say, I'm sure you can do better at another downtown Kirkland breakfast location.

“Don't go here”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

Tried to eat here a couple of times, but the owners wouldn't let me bring my latte in with me. Kirkland is the home of great coffee, so anyone carrying a latte is not allowed in the restaurant, yet they don't sell lattes in Georges. I even offered to buy a coffee if they'd let me bring in my own latte. No chance. They lost out on a group of 8 people eating dinner, because I couldn't bring in my own latte. We went to Hectors across the street instead, and had a great meal.

“Local fixture”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Georges has been around forever. The late owner was known for his kindness to locals and the family carries on the tradition. The food is above average and the decor is nothing fancy. The place is very well known to locals and it's one of the better spots for a decent meal in downtown Kirkland. It's nothing fancy, but the food is above average.

“Off the beaten path but great food”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Another restaurant where you can get great greek salads and beef sliders at the same time. Happy hour pricing is outstanding with beef sliders going fo $2 each. Make sure you eat at the bar as this is where the best service and atmosphere is.
