“Beyond the View ~~”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

No question about it,
no matter what this venue has been called over the decades,
or who owned it,
the VIEW remains spectacular,
from almost any seat in the house.
Situated literally on the shores of gorgeous Lake Washington,
with charming dock out front and grassy park next door,
it would be easy just to drink in the breathtaking view and feed
on shoreline serenity.
However . . .
The nicely appointed interior, offers both private booths or table
with a view.
Vaulted dining room ceiling, rustic wood decor; and carpeting helps
diminish some of the din . . .
Stick with beer or wine here, as mixed drinks are mostly mixer.
The food has ranged from fairly disappointing to incredibly good over all my
years of lunching, dining and happy hour visits to this venue.
Small free parking lot in front,
with additional lot just up the road.
Service ranges wildly, depending on current staffing.
Have had the very best here, and some of the worst, also;
both food and service.
But that view . . . ahhhhhhhhhhh

“Great dining on the waterfront in Kirkland”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

We have been here many times, as it is walking distance from our home. They have a very good Happy Hour menu. We have been here with friends for dinner and family for lunch. The menu is the same, and there are specials every day. The prices are moderate and the staff is child friendly. There are a number of sandwiches, salads, and casual food items on the menu. You can even take a boat to their dock and park it while you eat! There is an ongoing volleyball game at the park next door, all summer. Great as a walking stop along the lake.

Beautiful atmosphere and although it appears to be fine dining i.e. Detailed menu with mouthwatering descriptions, entrees priced in the high twenties, this was far frown true. Service was not prompt and while friendly they staff seemed young and inexperienced. Our appetizer of coconut shrimp was amazing. Tender shrimp and wonderful seasoning. When our entrees arrived my much anticipated cioppino was a big disappointment. Salty was the first reaction. Not a hint of lemongrass or even a taste of seafood. Exactly three tiny mussels (smaller than the four clams). I think the combination of capers and sausage was overpowering and salty.

My wife's salad was incredibly small for an entree and was very juvenile for $16.00

Others in our party ordered salmon which had a nice flavor but was so dry we requested lemon to liven it up.

I found my self gazing longingly at the fish and chips at the table next to us and at a burger stacked with crispy onions. Those seemed to be much better options than a seafood entree.

“Sit outside on the patio if the weather is nice”
Reviewed June 22, 2011

Have been here twice in the last month. Once for happy hour and once for lunch. This restaurant/bar now has a small patio area for sitting outside during nice weather. You are basically right on the lake with an amazing view. The only negative for the patio is that happy hour pricing is not available on the patio....not sure why but...
Lunch was very nice with a good selection of salads and entrees. Had the crab louie and my only complaint would be that it could have used a little more crab. The other salads on the menu were huge and looked really yummy. The fish dishes are always a good choice. Most seats in the restaurant have lake views so if the weather is not so nice, you can still enjoy the lake view.
