“A perfect weekend for a Mom and daughter!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

I took my daughter , who turned 21, to the Woodmark for a special week end. We were NOT disappointed. The accommodations were fabulous and the staff were wonderful. This was a splurge for me and the Woodmark only enhanced the experience. I had called a few days prior to ask the cost to upgrade the room to a suite and decided that the cost was not affordable for me. When we checked in my daughter was wished Happy Birthday and offered a glass of Champagne. Then when we arrived at our room and opened the door we were greeted with a balcony suite room overlooking the lake! Then there was a knock on the door and room service delivered a complimentary bottle of wine, glasses and a plate with chocolate truffles on it with a card and Happy Birthday written in chocolate script across the plate. Quite wonderful! In addition, the rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, the linens soft, the bathroom tub great for soaking and room service was quick. Lastly, the unpredictable weather of the PNW even delivered. Thanks to the Woodmark we had nothing less than a perfect weekend for a college kid and her mom. Your staff deserve kudos for making us feel welcome and special.

Room Tip: We were in Suite 401 which looked directly over the lake and was at the center of a V of rooms. Qui...

We were so delighted to hear that you choose our hotel to celebrate your daughters 21st birthday with us. Our pastry chef spends time each day creating our amenity plates so we're glad that you enjoyed our home made chocolate truffles.

So nice that the weather cooperated as well.

The Woodmark is on the lakeshore. Quiet and peaceful as expected. Unexpectedly a perfect hotel from service, friendliness, and even excellent food. This will be my choice of Bellevue/Kirkland hotel for any type of stay (business to romance)

Room Tip: ask for water view

I recently stayed 3 nights at The Woodmark for the first time. It exceeded my expectations. I was coming from an annual girls getaway at Suncadia Resort, which is a tough act to follow! I discovered the hotel had the same thing in common with my beloved Suncadia, ultimate luxuy yet comfortable and unassuming. I learned that the two places are sister properties, no wonder! I don't travel a whole lot and at times have felt uncomfortable in "fancy" hotels. Not here. I felt welcomed, appreciated and right at home. The lake view was fabulous, the tub/rain shower was brilliant. I had breakfast room service, ate twice at Beach Cafe and "raided the fridge" at midnight, all good food. I also loved the free car service, the walking paths on the lake and the proximity to downtown Kirkland. I am going to add The Woodmark to my annual stay at Suncadia.

Room Tip: The lake view is worth the extra money if you are spending any time in the room.

Thank you so much for writing about your last stay with us. Yes we are sister properties with Suncadia. We are both managed by Destination Hotel and Resorts located in Colorado. It looks like you experienced room service, our Beach Cafe and our Raid the Pantry amenity. And I'm so happy to hear you were able to enjoy our new amenity, our shuttle service.

We are looking forward to your return.

Its a nice hotel, and where as Seattle doesn't have a five star hotel according to the Five Star Forbes rating, this one, is probably situated bewteen a three and four star. It is charming, serene and has a nice east side location. But beware of the cons; First gym is a freezing ten minute walk away in an adjoining office complex, yikes!!! And it is cold up there except for the summer. The other con, ya, just a bridge ride away from Seattle but the once lovely 520 bridge is now a TOLL bridge, so costs money everytime. Another nit, the worse one, the thin walls between rooms. YES YOU CAN HEAR everything, even their phone ringing, and yes even normal talking. So hideous that they didn't do better insulation.
The lake is pretty and the actual hotel is pretty and the midnight buffet is fun/fattening. The restaurant is standard hotel fare, and the hotel needs an updating but it does have a serene quality to it. Nice to have a starbucks across the parking lane, that was great in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view and bring ear plugs for you and your neighbor, especially if you want some adult...

It's been a long time since we've stayed somewhere that more than meets your expectations. Thank you Woodmark! We stayed as part of a "Snique Away" deal the hotel was offering but in no way was that reflected in the way we were treated. We truly felt like VIP guests from the minute we walked through the door. Mike at the front desk was amazing! He checked us in promptly and offered us a complimentary glass of champagne and notified us that a few minutes after we arrived in our room we would hear a knock on the door...just a little gift from the hotel for our 20th Anniversary! We were so pleasantly surprised by a huge platter of chocolate dipped strawberries wishing us a Happy 20th from all the staff (personally signed card). What a way to start the weekend!

We wanted to dine at The Bin on The Lake restaurant but unfortunately it was completely booked for the evening so we went to the Beach Cafe instead. Mike had warned us that it was going to be busy and unlikely we'd get a reservation last minute. We appreciated his being honest and not promising more than he could deliver. Frankly, I'm glad we didn't get to eat at The Bin this time because we really enjoyed our meal and the casual atmosphere at the Beach Cafe. (I will provide a separate review for that later.)

We ended up in a mid-level room with a view of the lake and two queen beds. No balcony but a nice view with a sliding glass door with a screen so you could still enjoy the fresh air. The view was incredible!!! The rooms were impeccably clean and had every amenity you could ever need. Nice martini bar complete with Sky Vodka or Gin and olives. We had a little celebration drink with friends prior to our dinner out...nice treat and not too expensive considering there was enough for 4 of us to have double shot martinis and still a quarter of the Vodka still in the bottle ($25 total).

There are so many places to go and just relax and enjoy the views on the property. A lovely gathering area complete with fireplace in the lower level of the hotel with complimentary lemon water and coffee whenever you want it, did I mention the water view? It was really cold and stormy the weekend that we were there so it was lovely to have a nice place to snuggle up.

What would I do different...upgrade to a suite with the balcony and nicer style soaking tub. Although our room was wonderful I think I would splurge next time to enjoy our own patio area...especially in the summer. Would love to have a seating area too rather than just the bed or a single chair.

It is the perfect retreat for anyone who is wanting a quick getaway, a luxurious business trip or a family reunion. They do everything right here...I can't imagine anything much better than the service this place provides. They have earned our loyalty and we cannot wait to return. Summer would be an even better experience. Imagine late warm summer nights walking on the docks between the yachts on moonlit paths dappled by perfectly designed lighting features. Daytime walks to nearby parks and a truly lovely neighborhood anyone would be envious to live in. It really sets the mood for the perfect romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a lakefront room...it's worth the extra money and splurge for the suite if it...

It was so nice to get your review regarding your 20th anniversary stay with us. I'm going to ask you if you would like to write some marketing copy for us. I couldn't have written a better description of what it's like here in the summer. This year we are planning on bringing back our bikes, kayaks and paddleboards. And we're going to add wake boarding as well.

Look forward to seeing you join us this summer.

Stayed here on a Travelzoo deal. This place is really pumping the promotions so check around before you book. They don't treat you like second class if you come in on a deal. Raid the Pantry was fun. (Check there website). Rooms are getting a little dated but the place is super relaxing and away from all the craziness of downtown Seattle.

This hotel did a great giving us a weekend to remember. From the very beginning through the checking and the "Special " anniversary gift in the room they all did an outstanding job. This hotel knows how to give guest a great experience. We received a complementary up grade to a lake view room and really appreciated the attention. We will be back. Nice job Woodmark!!!

Room Tip: Opps this hotel did not have a swimming pool and hot tub.
