“Pleasant enough, no frills lodging.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

Nice reception area, and when we checked in the receptionist was lovely. But then over the next 3 nights, I don’t think the reception was ever manned again.
The room was lovely and big, with comfy beds, a nice sofa, and desk with tables and chairs. The room has a fridge and a microwave, and a 32” tv with a VCR (but no DVD).

The hotel smelled a bit smoky – but was generally tidy.

Swimming pool and spa had disco lights which looked amazing!

Breakfast can be described in one word – shambolic. Two of the mornings there was no coffee, the sauages ran out on one morning and two were bought out with around 20 people in the cramped area waiting, and there was just a general feel of no-one knowing what was going on.

I think this hotel has recently had a change in management (the business card at reception has the managers name crossed out) so expect things to improve. But overall it was a nice enough place, and provided good value, comfortable accommodation.

Odd location in a mall – but handy for a 24 hour Safeway, which is next door.

Have stayed at this hotel many times as it is the only decent place in the Kalama/Kelso/Longview area. However, their breakfast area is very cramped and the food placement is not very well thought out. Also, very disappointed in the decision to stop offering Yami yogurt to the now offered Safeway select (Yech). Why is it that hotels seem to think that everybody likes Strawberry, Raspberry or Blueberry yogurt.

Thank you for your very helpful suggestion on how we can improve the presentation of the breakfast area. We will certainly attend to the matter. We do offer Yami yogurt on a daily basis, but had unexpected delivery delays on the day you stayed with us. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you will visit again soon.

When we visit family in the area this is where we stay. Not fancy but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is basic, waffles are good. The king room with a kitchen comes with a wet bar, refrigerator & small table & 2 chairs. There is a Safeway within walking distance to pick up anything you might want for snacks. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room facing the mall. The other side of the hotel has train tracks and a very well traveled road.

Our first night stay in WA was at this hotel. We upgraded room for a kitchen. The room was clean but it was real basic. The pull out sofa was lumpy and saggy at the same time. The fridge and items in the kitchenette were ok and the coffee pot was a 4 cup maker which is better than the single ones. Shower had decent water pressure and roomy bathroom counter. For the area we were it it was nice, but no frills. The breakfast area was too crowded and when we went for food it was all eaten by the mass group that descended on it that morning; oh and were eating standing up - right there in front of the food, yuck! (Please don't crowd the food and let others eat too!) The nicest part was it was close to the grocery store and to a mall.

Room Tip: Get a larger room if you can, I think it is worth it especially if you have gear you are bringing.

This place met and exceeded our expectations for an affordable stop-off enroute home to Seattle from a wedding in Portland. We arrived after midnight, received attentive, prompt service at the reception desk and enjoyed a fresh, comfortable bed in our spacious room. A train or two went by in the night but not enough to disturb our sleep much. Very clean bathroom, good shower, ample but crowded continental breakfast. Didn't have time to try the pool. Only negative is slightly obscure location around far side of a mall, but that made for a quieter setting. Definitely recommend as a great value.

I stayed one night in this hotel on my wayt to Mt. St. Helens. It is one of the closest places you can stay, although it may seem a little far at first glance. The hotel was very clean and my room was very comforatble and nice. There was a nice wide staircase in the back and the lobby was very attactive. It has a nice hot breakfast, so a good place to start a day of touring. The only downsides are that it is right in a parking lot of a shopping mall, so I guess if you want to shop that is not a downside, with a casino on the other side but views are not great. I was a littel taken aback by the casino and worried about noise and about the fact that I was traveling alone, but it was very quite and safe. The other downside is that the pool was full of kids all the time. The people at the front desk could not have been nicer and offered to tell the kids to stop, but they were not being bad, just overly playful, so I went to my room to read. Nice stay overall.

Room Tip: One side faces a Casino, but it is not lit up a lot, so wasn't bad. The other side faces a Macy...

We needed a place to stay in between trips to Mt. Rainier and Mt St Helens, and we found Kelso to be conveniently located for this purpose. We were quite pleased when we arrived at the Guesthouse Inn and Suites. There was ample free parking when we arrived and our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Our room came with a refrigerator and microwave and the free Wifi was adequate for our needs. We were also provided an excellent free breakfast in the morning (waffles, eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy, fruit, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, and toast).

The town of Kelso didn’t have much to offer us in terms of attractions, but there was plenty of fast food near the hotel. There was even a shopping center nearby and a Target and Safeway within walking distance. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel if you are in the area.
