you can get up close to the animals. I forgot the specific animals, but they are not found in, say, Woodland Park Zoo. Also, it has a great view too.

This little gem is completely supported by donations, but has carved out a special and valuable niche in endangered species and public education. As well as having some wonderful cougars, they have an extremely rare 'golden' tiger -- which lacks the gene for black stripes, just gold and white with a few light brown stripes. They have some white tigers, too. There are many fine parrots and macaws, several kinds of lemurs, and a large reindeer herd. Lectures by docents are frequent and friendly, and they like questions.
Finally, the views of Lake Washington, especially from up top of the large tiger enclosure, are fantastic!

I visited with preschoolers on a field trip. The zoo is very small, with inadequate parking. Many of the exhibits are of various parrots and macaws, and their enclosures are adequate. However, their cats are kept in horribly small enclosures. If they cannot provide humane facilities, they should not have these animals.

Kids were restless driving in the car and we had heard about the zoo. What a surprise stop!!! Thoroughly enjoyed the time spent, wish we lived closer!
