“Very good homemade-tasting food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

You can count on very good, often excellent, food here. Today may have been my least satisfying visit yet it was still pretty good. Delicious cabbage/bean soup but served barely warm. Normally wonderful turkey sandwich today served on "meh" bread and slathered with cranberry jelly instead of accompanied by a lovely side of whole cranberry sauce. Hope it's a temporary lapse and next visit all will be well with great sandwiches, soups, and desserts.

“rude service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

The food was absolutely delicious but the customer service if enough to never make me want to return the older lady i believe her name is carol was so rude to myself and my co-workers she made us wait to get our food order until she was done having her personal non work related conversation. When we finally got our food and sat to enjoy it she was walking by and decided to interject herself into our conversation and begin discussing her personal life and her children which i was just surprised by ive never seen this any other restaurant. The owner was very polite and pleasant and so are the other workers i just dont think ill be able to return with such a rude person such as the lady carol there definite fail.

“quaint little soup and sandwich shop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2012

I love the atmosphere and the the women who work there. Wonderful soup, sandwiches, and salads. Oh! and the apple crisp is to die for! Fabulous lunch spot. They only take checks or cash though, so be prepared.

“An Issaquah Treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2011

We have been eating at the Boarding House since it opened in the 1970's. It is located in Gilman Village, a collection of early 1900's buildings that house a variety of shops. While the other buildings have changed shops several times, the Boarding House remains the same and as excellent as ever. Everything is homemade. They serve delicious soups, sandwiches, and desserts. My favorite meal is a Boarding House Salad with homemade bread followed by a warm apple crisp with real whipped cream. A perfect spot to spend a drizzly Northwest afternoon.
