You need to pay fee to park, but will find a machine in the lot...don't skip that part! Then you will have to hike to the lighthouse, which you will notice goes down and down ( and will require returning up and up!), and then go up a steep paved road past the coast guard station, but will reach an old fort and a view worth a million bucks! Interesting displays and information inside the visitors bureau, so don't miss that part.

I probably would give almost any lighthouse a 5 star rating. I'm drawn to structures that have withstood the test of weather and time stoically. I always feel transported somewhere back in time. This one is special I think because of the walk down from the gift shop area. It's a steeper grade, but surrounded by the beauty of the northwest and I love the view of the cove to the right.

Very beautiful views, an easier hike with maintained trail. Plan on some inclines (not wheel chair friendly trail but try asking a ranger for assistance). The view is worth it and it's a beautiful place!

There is approximately a 1+ mile hike, much of it is up hill going to the lighthouse. It's tough for kids and elderly, as well as people not in really good physical shape. The lighthouse itself is not open for tours so it must be viewed from the outside. Once you get there, the views are really beatiful. The trails go thru the woods and it is easy to get turned around or miss a path leading back to the parking lot. There is a historical fort of some sort near the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center.
