My exercise level is not too high and the hike to this one is longer than I like to do. The view from the area is gorgeous and you can still get some great pictures. There are other things to do in the area so worth the trip.

You should not pass this one by. The history, pictures and written word will take you a couple of hours. The views are too awesome for words. It's absolutely worth your time. This is a must stop!

Wonderful walk to a beautifully sited lighthouse, especially if the weather is kind.

Cape Disappointment lighthouse keepers house (we stayed at the Assistant keepers' house) is for rent from Washington State Parks department. The century-old two-story Victorian-period house features a comfortable place to weather a storm. We played cards and the kids watched dvds on the laptop. The next day we all visited the Lewis and Clark interpretive center, good for all ages. As a Maya Lin fan, we took in the local sites of the area including, her work on the confluence project, www.confluenceproject.org. The boardwalk with text from the Corps journals leads to a amphitheater on broken seashells. We did not get a tour but next time I would arrange for a tour from the interpretive center. It was very windy - we lost a scarf and a hat on the trip - but gained memories.
