We traveled from Independence OR. to Cape Disappointment for a long weekend. This State park is very well maintained. The people working here were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking parts of the Lewis and Clark trail and walking thru the battery at McKenzie Head with surrounding history plaques that told us of events with Thomas Jefferson and Lewis & Clark. We spent an afternoon at the interpretive center as well. It was a beautiful building with a lot of history on display. I think we paid $5 to get in and it was worth every penny. There are displays and pictures and even a movie sharing the history of the area. If you buy a park pass or have your State Park camping ticket in your window, you do not have to pay the day fees at surrounding sites. We enjoyed our stay in the park and visiting the surrounding areas of interest. We had full hook-ups and were right by the beach!! Thank you Washington & Cape Disappointment. We will see you again!!
