“Highly Priced”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

The park had great views and hiking trails. I was pretty disappointed about the overall cost. First you had to pay for parking. I assumed this was all inclusive, but visiting the visitor center was an additional fee, and going into the lighthouse was an additional fee. I think there are much cheaper ways to get similar views.

“Interesting, With a View”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We had driven through the park before but this time we decided to visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center located there. I am not sure if there was an easier way to get up the hill, but we didn’t find it and it was a bit of a challenge for our older visitors to get to the top. The center is spacious and well laid out with very interesting displays to meander through. The “cherry on the top” is the panoramic view the center offers of the coast. To make the most of it I suggest visiting on a clear day, something of a rarity in this area of the country. I recommend combining your visit to this center with a visit to Oregon’s Lewis and Clark National Historical Park to get a better perspective of the expedition’s experiences.

“Fishing at Cape Disappointment State Park”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We have discovered at Cape Disappointment State Park that fishermen like to fish for Salmon on the Jetty in the park. They fish on the Columbia river side. And we have noticed that they do catch fish. However, if you are thinking of fishing there, please be very cautious. In talking with the fisherman, walking on the large rocks that makes up the jetty, so get close to the water's edge, can be very dangerous. You can slip on wet rocks if not careful. Or a large wave if get too close to the water. With these warnings, comes the hope of catching the "big one". Chinook, and Silver salmon are favorites.

“Great place to camp!”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We did a fall tent camping trip here, just steps from the beach to the Pacific Ocean! Great camp ground, great staff, and perfect surroundings! The bathrooms/showers were clean, and well lit.

“Beautiful area!!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This is a large, beautiful state park. There are hiking trails of various skill levels, gorgeous dense forests, and spectacular views of the lighthouses and beaches below. It is easy to imagine early explorers and mariners arriving in this area, and there is plenty of history in the Lewis & Clark Museum.
