Excellent small menus that changes seasonally. They use the freshest ingredients and endeavor to use local ingredients when available and will gladly tell you what menu items can fit dietary restrictions. Great blues/jazz (think Mose Allison) background music. Great local artwork on the walls. I eat here at least once a week and my wife more often because she works nearby. Yes, it's the best in town, but it is also the best in the Mid-Columbia River Gorge area of excellent restaurants. The hardest thing is choosing between the excellent entrees or small plates. The other hard thing is I don't often remember to save room for the fabulous deserts.

We stopped by for lunch about 2 on a Thursday. Although the place was nearly empty, the waiter seated us at a very wobbly table, right in front of a curtained doorway to a staff only area. My companion was continually brushed against by staff coming and going. We each ordered the potato soup, and a brick oven piadina w/ caramelized onions, Parmesan and butter lettuce to share. We had to wait quite a bit for the food, and the waiter only brought one bowl of soup...she had misunderstood and thought we were sharing it. It took 10 minutes for the next bowl to come out. Although she clearly understood that the piadina was to share (she brought two plates) it was on one piece of extremely tough flatbread that we couldn't cut with the table knife. I asked for a knife to cut it, and she brought a steak knife, which took much sawing to cut the sandwich so we could share it. The sandwich was almost inedible...the bread was dry and tough, and the parmesan, instead of being melted on the bread, was a few sprinkles on top of a high pile of barely cut lettuce with a few sad bits of cold onion and some cherry tomatoes. It was impossible to eat. The potato soup, when it finally came, was hot, velvety, and delicious.

First, I would like to say how disappointed I am that you had such a negative experience! We pride ourselves on having fresh, locally sourced food in a cozy atmosphere. And, we definitely want our guests to feel comfortable in our home. We had a large party before your arrival, and when the tables got moved back, your table was positioned too close to the doorway, so then you and your guest were to close to that entrance. However, we decided the best solution was to move that table to another location so as to avoid any future problems like you described. We really appreciate your feedback...comments from our guests help us evaluate our service, and make changes when necessary. We are committed to providing our guests with excellent food and service, and I hope that you will come see us again on your next trip through Goldendale!

Excellent food, nothing fancy, but all fresh and local and in the most delicious way prepared.
For us, as "tourists" a must go when we're in Goldendale.
Maren and Laura took great care of us. The wine selection is great, the prices are good.
We (a party of six the first day, of 4 the other) had a sample of different appetizers for sharing at the table. The mussels were outstanding, but the tuna carpaccio and the spring rolls were not far behind them.
For main we had the fish, one day a seabass, the other a tuna - yummy.
We already planning our next trip to GD, and Glass Onion will be on our top list of the to dos

Food and service are outstanding. Compares with fine dining in large cities. A great find. Menu is diverse. Everything from the appetizers to the entrées are delightful! Wonderful wines and beers.

This definitely the best restaurant in Goldendale. The food is great, but the portion sizes could be increased. At most restaurants sides dishes are included with the entrée, but not here. If you want any side dishes along with your entrée you must order them separately.

The atmosphere and the great food make this an excellent restaurant.
