My husband and I stay at Mt. Adam's lodge at least one weekend out of the year. We have stayed at the lodge about 4 times now. I happened upon the lodge a couple of years ago through one of their promotions. And we fell in love! Last year we brought our good friends, and our daughter, rented the log cabin, and we had a wonderful fun and relaxing time. In the past it has just been my husband and I, we like to go up there so we can snow shoe or hike around Mt. Adams. This is a perfect get-away from the city. The lodge is peaceful and land is beautiful. This is also perfect place for family and friends ... and dogs. Kids and dogs can roam the land (while respecting the land and lodge), hiking the trail, and just explore without parents worrying about anything happening to them. You can cook your own food in the cabin or lodge area. There are many outdoor activities to keep you busy. We have always felt welcomed! Remember this is not a full service hotel in the city or gorge ... this is the cabin in the woods type lodge. If you love the outdoors or just want some quiet time this is the perfect place to go! And the breakfast they offer when staying on the weekend is so yummy! My husband and I have had some wonderful conversations during breakfast with other guests. I know many other people who visit Mt. Adam's Lodge often and they too enjoy their time spent there. Don't let the bad reviews fool you, experience it out for yourself.
Log cabin is a great for family's and friends! Also their is a room in the main lodge that has it's own entrance, it is dark and cozy but perfect for an outdoor get-a-way with your significant other.

I have been going to the Flying L Ranch with my husband and two small children for over 4 years. We love it! We also spend time with two other families there at least once a year. It has come to be our tradition.

We love to stay in the main house and use the communal kitchen and living/dining room. My husband loves building fires in the fireplace. It is cozy and comfortable. We read, play games, take walks and relax.

We have also stayed in one of the cabins, which was great when just the 4 of us went. We have been in every season. Our kids love the freedom to run around the property.

We live in Portland, OR. It is less than 2 hrs to get to the Flying L--so easy for us! A great escape from the city!

Room Tip: We love the room with the fire place!

I've stayed at the Mt. Adams Lodge numerous times and have never been disappointed. The cabins and rooms are rustic and homey, the breakfast is always delicious and the Lodge itself is a warm place to hang out and read or play games or put together puzzles. I've met the nicest people while staying there, plus it's dog-friendly, so my dog always has a great time, too. Outdoor activities abound for people who are active, but just staying around the Lodge is relaxing as well. There's frisbee golf, or a nice walk around the property for those who don't want to drive anywhere. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Traveled with other families for a weekend trip. Owners definitelly do not like kids. They kicked us out of the common area at 8pm and we had to have the kids play a bit outside in the cold until its time for bed.

These families were drinking heavily and NOT supervising their children. They rented all 4 cabins but decided to host a birthday party in the main Lodge where other guests were. Their children jumped on couches and glass coffee tables, they were very disrespectful. They asked for a 30% discount to make their own breakfast in the cabins which we arranged beforehand. The host of the birthday party didn't mention this to the friends they brought...and they then complained that we didn't serve them breakfast. We asked them as a group not to return to Mt Adams Lodge. This is NOT the normal group we get here. We normally get the nicest, most courteous, and appreciative groups up here.

The purpose of our trip was to celebrate our friend's birthday, to get away from the hustle and bustle, to relax, for our kid's to have fun and for us to explore around. When we arrived, I found no one at the office to check in. Instead, there was a sign that said to walk back to the owner's home. So, I walked back to ask for the cabin key and to check in just like any other establishment. When I introduced myself, she introduced herself and with no smile said, "You're cabin key is already in the cabin, its unlocked and BTW, you guys aren't having any breakfast so you're own your own this weekend". Gee, what happened to the warm welcome I was expecting? The other owner was nice enough to start our fire in our cabin but that was about it. He was clueless in other specifics. If it wasn't for this birthday celebration of our friend, we would have packed up and left. There are certain people that belong in the customer service field and some that do not. These owners do not and lack the "people" skills crucial to run a business such as this ranch or any other business in general. What they should really strive for is people's repeat business by being accomodating, professional, friendly, and making guests feel welcomed. Unless the ownership changes, we won't be back.

Unfortunately, but rarely, we have guests here that are disrespectful to this beautiful Lodge & property. We had a group of families here in early February who drank a LOT and did not supervise their children. We asked this group not to return to our property and they decided to write negative reviews. They booked 4 cabins and decided to have a Birthday Party for at least 23 people in the main Lodge where there were other guests. They took over the Lodge kitchen and living room and let them kids go wild in the living room unsupervised. We had to go in and ask them to return to the cabins they booked. They also asked for a 30% discount to cook their own breakfast which we agreed to. Problem was they didn't mention this to their 20+ friends so these guests got mad that we weren't cooking breakfast for them. This was NOT the normal type of group we get up here and it was upsetting to ask them to NOT return. We normally get the nicest, respectful, courteous and responsible people here. Feel free to call me at the Lodge if you would like some names/number of guests who have brought groups hear repeatedly. Thanks! Julee Wasserman, owner, Mt Adams Lodge at the Flying L Ranch

Bed & Breakfast...that funny we were never served breakfast. In fact if we had request for anything, be it a map of the area, clean towels or someone to fix the broken sink and stove in our cabins was given a very surly retort. We will never return unless it is sold to another group. It is such a shame for a place that has a great history has turned into a dump with neglect and that the owners don't even care.

We arrived early. The directions that were given from the web page put us in exactly the right place. We enjoyed lunch on the picnic table and then took off for a hike. There are weeks of hiking trails and parks that surround the ranch. When we got back, we enjoyed making our dinner in their huge well stocked kitchen while making new friends with other families that were staying at the ranch.
Our room was very comfortable and could have slept four or five. The bathroom was newly remodeled and the towels provided were PLUSH! We had a chance to peak in some other rooms and the building attached to the cookhouse appeared to have even newer furnishings, but had to share a bathroom.
We loved the true ranch feeling of the property. We brought our two labs who were entertained by the ranch dogs who knew "all the best places" on the ranch to play. We took a small hike around the property and found beautiful forests and a well maintained trail. This would be a great home base for a week or more!
