Description: The Tides Tavern offers the greatest house-made food and finest beverages in the western hemisphere, but only to persons over 21 years of age. Please be prepared to show I.D. The building that houses the Tides Tavern was built by Axel Uddenberg in 1910 and served the area as a general store. Located next to the "People's Dock," the town's only public ferry landing, it was called the West Side Mercantile. From that time until the present it has had a series of owners and has been several businesses. Run down and in a state of disrepair, the building was bought by Peter Stanley in 1973. After an extensive and ambitious rebuilding project, the Tides opened it's doors to the public on Saturday June 2, 1973.

I've been to the Tides as a tourist decades ago and as a boater over the last few years. The beauty and convenience--located over the water with decks and docks, and savvy staff--brings me back and never fails. Sit at a table on the deck; arrange the umbrella so you can watch the paddle boarders, kayakers, sailors, and weather; and begin on the long list of beers

“Tide inn Gig Harbor ”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

Not good it was the worst restaurant as far as the noise. The service was par as the restaurant was so noisy that she the waitress could not hear what you saying.
I ordered two orders of 1\2 claims because being small. There were 7 empty claim shells that came with the order. The manager did give us credit. As far as the salad that they served my daughter she said was not good. Anyway I would not return on a Friday evening.

“So not worth it! ”

Super bad service!!! The waitress never brought water even though I asked twice. She spilled large quantities of beer on the floor and our table, forgot half our order. Ugh. And the food, well the food was tasteless and overpriced!! Our clam appetizer had 12 clams, 7 were empty. All in a watery broth with an oil stain on top. Watery salad dressing for my salad. Overall terrible meal. We went home and ate. I doubt I will go back. This was the 3rd try and each time was worse. Shame this local icon is do bad

“Great View, Great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

It had been 30 years since I had been to the Tides Tavern. I wanted to take my husband to a place I liked to eat at when I lived in Tacoma Washington. It was a beautiful day in Gig Harbor and the outside deck at Tides was full. We ate inside and the service was great as always, considering how busy they were. My husband had the BBQ Beef Brisket sandwich and I had the Taco Salad. Food was excellent. It was great to find that the quality of the food had not changed. Even sitting inside you still have a great view of the harbor.

Very popular and busy place even at 1130 am. This place has a positive vibe and great service. If we lived in Gig Harbor it would be a regular for us.
