Description: The Tides Tavern offers the greatest house-made food and finest beverages in the western hemisphere, but only to persons over 21 years of age. Please be prepared to show I.D. The building that houses the Tides Tavern was built by Axel Uddenberg in 1910 and served the area as a general store. Located next to the "People's Dock," the town's only public ferry landing, it was called the West Side Mercantile. From that time until the present it has had a series of owners and has been several businesses. Run down and in a state of disrepair, the building was bought by Peter Stanley in 1973. After an extensive and ambitious rebuilding project, the Tides opened it's doors to the public on Saturday June 2, 1973.

Tides is a Gig Harbor must. Whether you arrive by boat or by car,a tides Tavern is a great place to find a bite and a cold drink. The one negative with Tides is that the entire restaurant is classified as a bar. That means if you have kids you're tough out of luck!

I have a gallery just up the street from the Tides tavern. It really is "iconic". Not only do I like it - the food is good, the staff energetic, the setting is fabulous - but I hear good "reviews" from many customers who come into the gallery after eating there.
In my opinion - can't get better than eating on their deck on a warm day.

Great food. Very warm and friendly place. Terrific all seasons but nice in the summer to sit on the deck and watch the boats docking.

My son used to hand cut the halibut filets for frying but now its frozen. Great afternoon deck action. Prices have double this year on happy hour appitizers such as oyster shooters $2/each) but the smoked tuna salad is still in-house smoked and delicious. Great place for out of towners and in town burnouts.

The Tides is both a local hangout and a place for out-of-towners to experience Gig Harbor. It's a good pub, with good food and drink, friendly service and a nice view. The deck is great when the weather's nice, and gets crowded fast.
