When you walk in, you immediately "get it." Quiet, wonderful view of Holmes Harbor, great setting, and the best meal we have ever had on Whidbey Island. It was my wife's birthday, we brought a special bottle of wine, and happily paid the $20 corkage fee. Have the calamari, a very different presentation, in a tomato sauce, lightly breaded, basil, garlic, and chunks of heirloom tomatoes. Any larger and it would be a great entry. Had the two specials, silver salmon and the short ribs, both came with a pea/risotto, perfectly done brocolini, snap peas, done to perfection. Service was wonderful, like we owned our table for as long as we wanted. You will plan a return visit to Gordons once you indulge yourself. With one extra glass of wine, and one shared meyer lemon cheesecake, our total bill was $120. This is a real find on Whidbey Island.

Great food experience. We used our GPS to get to the restaurant and couldn't find it. Made a turn-around and saw the little sign covered by some bushes. We turned onto the gravel driveway and here it was.
This actually added to the experience: the low key, gravel parking, but inside you feel like at home. The view on the bay is the same: low key, but simply beautiful.
The idea of all dinner ingrediants beeing fresh and local is there. The dishes were excellent and modern in combining some contrasting tastes. We were walks-in, but the reservation is recommended since the place is not huge, and fills fast.

Loved Gordon's! The service was impeccable and the mussels to die for. Had a Grilled Watermelon Appetizer that was delicious and very unusual. Would go again.

We made reservations for his place the day of, based on other nearby wineries recommendations. You have to leave a message if it's early in the day.

The views are very good. We had all seafood and it was very fresh! The staff were all great and comfortable. The setting was not stuffy or snobby. Just comfortable, fresh food.

We started off with a clam/mussel appetizer. It was in a light green curry broth. Very good, very subtle. The shellfish was so tender and sweet. Very good. But the plate had a sweet glaze of some sort on it, and it didn't agree with the flavors at all. I made no sense. Sweet sesame glaze and green curry? It made everything overly sweet, and somewhat detracted from the natural sweetness of the shellfish.

Luckily, we could avoid it in the food, but inevitably our forks kept getting stuck in it, and for the duration of my dinner, my hands were sticky. Such a small decision to put that garnish there, but it's existence was very annoying.

For dinner we each had more shellfish. One dish was the bouillabaisse. It was very good and the broth was very light, it had tender scallops, clams and mussels, shrimp, and hunks of luscious salmon. The salmon was the star of the show in this dish. But this dish suffered the same fate as the appetizers and it was that horrific glaze! Why is it here?? More stickiness. I couldn't get the sticky off my hands. I just felt...gross. And the dish was utterly fantastical! So to be annoyed with a garnish is a bummer. And Ike the ther appetizer, it just didn't make sense with the flavors.

The other dish was the clam/mussel linguini. Lots of paprika, and pretty good, but man it needed A LOT of salt. Like, we had to remove the lid from the shaker to add enough. The sauce, although tasty (once properly seasoned) wouldn't stick to the linguini. It was best eaten like a soup in order to get all the flavors in one bite.

Luckily, this plate did NOT have the sticky mess on the side.

The desserts looked fantastic' but we were out of room.

If they remove the sticky mess on the plates, this place would be perfect!

What a wonderful spot. Fabulous, high quality food. The servers are a little stuffy, but it was really cool that the chef came out and walked through the dining room and talked with the customers. Very pricey, but great for a special occasion. We will definitely be going back.
