“Lovely location in the woods”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

We enjoyed our visit to Manitou Lodge. Our room was roomy and clean. The large open great room made our living space seem even larger. The gas fireplace made even the chilly morning seem cozy.

The weather was great for us, as summer had apparently arrived. We'll come back another time to see rain and fog.

Manitou Lodge was conveniently located to visit the beaches and the Hoh Rain Forest. We hiked to Second Beach from a nearby road and drove to Ruby Beach. The drive along the Hoh River up to the National Park was nice, too.

We were happy to find a great alternative to standard hotels

Room Tip: The lodge rooms have easy access to the great room. Have a cup of tea in front of the fireplace. T...

My wife and I stayed at the Manitou in mid August. Our room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable and there was a beautiful porch right out the back door. The lodge itself is located in the woods in a beautiful spot within a couple of miles of Rialto beach. I would highly recommend the Manitou to any traveling in the area.

My boyfriend and really wanted to go to take a weekend trip to the Olympic National Park and stay by the beach, but with last minute planning we really didn't have many options. I feel like I really got lucky when I found Manitou Lodge! We stayed at Tentsite I. It worked out perfectly! We don't camp very much so we didn't want to spend money on all of the gear for just 1 weekend and I was so happy to find that Manitou Lodge provided everything you needed for a night of camping! Tentsite I was in a very private location on clean and very kept grounds with a short walk to the shared bathroom. The lodge is tucked away and a bit off the road, but I felt it was perfect for a nice little getaway. There is a shop that closes at 9pm about 10 minutes up the road that has everything you need for last minute items and had a restaurant there as well. The only thing that we were missing was the kindling to get the fire started - we couldn't find it anywhere. And no flashlight was provided but luckily we remembered to bring our own.

The B&B looked like it was really nice and possibly next time we will stay in one of the main rooms, but for people who don't have much camping gear but would like to have the whole camping experience, this is the perfect place for you!

Thanks for your review; we're so glad you liked Instant Camping! Normally, we would have provided you with a bundle of kindling and a nice lantern/flashlight, and we're sorry you didn't get those things, even though it sounds like you had a good time anyway. Thanks again for taking the time to write about your experience. We hope you're able to come back out and stay with us again!

We stayed in the Pocahontas room right off the main reception area. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The bathroom also had some extras like Q-Tips and face cleansing pads. The only 2 minor things were 1. the bathroom door squeaked very loudly. I reported this to Jackie in the morning and she said they would look into it. 2. We could hear other guests in the reception area playing games when we were trying to sleep - however by 10pm all was quiet and we got a good night sleep. The lodge itself is tucked away on quiet road and the main lodge is beautiful. Refreshments were available all day and the breakfast basket had a good variety.

What a great stay- Anyone going there now will have nice new roads to drive on (what a neat surprise to find my son's company is resurfacing the whole road to LaPush from Forks and on to Crescent Lake- OH what a great road they are making it- OH what beauty- the forest, the cabin, the breakfast, the managers. Am planning on it AGAIN- From the northside its a super nice quick and easy trip to Manitou- but if you want to come up from Aberdeen side- WHAT views and super hiking along the many beaches- Pristine- OH MY GOSH! And it doesn't rain all the time either- We had sun and very very comfortable- Well worth the cost- And the lodge is SO aesthetic- you will want to stay, play a game or read Twilight- no there are no vampires (too far north for vampire bats even.) GREAT ice cream in Forks also! And a nice restaurant in Mora

Room Tip: Call early! If you like to viist- stay in one of the rooms in the lodge

Since the area is so rainy, it is great to enter the warm Manitou lodge and be welcome byt the tenant lady. The cabin we were in was comfortable and clean, but the carpet on the floor is not a good idea as the weather is so humid... a woodfloor would be much cleaner...

On August 14th we stayed in the Cedar Suite which is situated right off the main lodge room with two big beds and a futon in two separate rooms. It was wonderful - comfortable, charming and so interesting with all the various decorations. Our boys, 11 and 13, loved playing chess in the common lodge room and just wandering around looking at all the nick-knacks hanging on the walls and filling the bookshelves. Breakfast was great, just popped the pre-made breakfast sandwiches and muffins in our microwave and we sat down to a delicious meal. This was the perfect retreat from a days drive. We all agreed that we wish we could have stayed longer. Very close to Rialto beach, which was foggy that morning, but cleared up in the afternoon. What a beautiful beach!!
