A small town tucked away in the northwest corner of Washington state (Ferndale) has somehow managed to acquire two Thia restaurants. We walked into one and had a look at a pretty mundane menu before deciding to try the other. I cannot speak for the food quality in the former, but the meal we had at the Luxe Thai was a happy accident for both of us.
The fresh roll appy was a delight with great flavours and textures forbidding you to stop eating long enough to tell your companion how tasty it was. Strands of spicy, lemony Thai basil jumped out and proved a perfect counterpoint to the noodle, veg, and prawn filling at every bite.
Each meal can be customed spiced with a range of 1-5 being offered. The fiery end of the scale isn't a barn burner, but is still quite pleasant. Portion sizes are large enough to make the average person walk away feeling full, but not uncomfortably so and the staff seems genuinely happy that you chose to eat there. The decor isn't anything to write home about... a rather small space with about a dozen tables much like a billion other places you've been to, but the food is very, very good. Try the Thai coffee or tea. You'll like it.
