During a visit to Orcas Island, we wanted to have an evening out for dinner. The ambiance was completed by the organ concert, complete with history of beautiful mansion. After the concert we had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. Fish and chips are always a desired dish when visiting the waterfront restaurants and the Rosario did not disappoint.

Views of Cascade Bay as you dine in a historic mansion filled with original furnishings and photographs. Excellent service and food is very high quality -- we had delicious local fresh oysters Rockefeller. I enjoyed the wild king salmon with fresh vegetables and farro although recommend sharing as the portion is plentiful. Husband had delicious lamb shank with wild mushrooms and also enjoyed the fish and chips (fresh halibut). We shared a to die for hot chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce soufflé. Extensive list of wines, hand-crafted cocktails and beers. Dined here for breakfast and dinner twice during our stay and expect to be here again-- superb and no need to go elsewhere on Orcas Island!

We ate at the rosario restaurant twice. Once for breakfast and dinner.

Breakfast was good, but dinner was horrible.

I would stay clear of this place and go to new leaf instead, which was really good.

For dinner at the rosario, I had the steak and my wife had the tiger prawns and sausage pasta. The steak was unseasoned and lacking flavor. No pepper or salt, they just slapped some meat on the grill and that was it. A couple of small potato slices. No sauce or anything to go with the streak.

The paste dish was also lacking flavor, missing seasoning and the prawns were flavor free. The pasta was swimming in sauce and not very good sauce.

Service was slow.

The waiter never asked us how our meal was, probably because he already knows the answer.

While there were bread plates on the table, no bread was served. It would have filled the void while we waited 45+ minutes for the food to arrive.

Next visit we will avoid the restaurant and go into town where there are some good places to eat.

Overall not a good meal and the chef needs some more training in flavor.

My apologies to these guests for their recent experience in our restaurant. We strive to provide our guests a wonderful dining experience, and unfortunately it appears that we “dropped the ball” during their visit. I have followed up personally with these guests and was glad to hear they enjoyed the rest of their visit at the resort. It is certainly our goal to provide friendly, efficient service and delicious food, and as such, encourage all of our customers to please let us know during their visit if anything is not to their liking. We really do want our customers to leave happy!

My husband and I ate here twice during our vacation. Once in the lounge, once in the restaurant.

The first night in the lounge we had our choice of seating, and chose to eat right at the bar. The bartender (Karen) was AMAZING. The fire was lit in the original hearth. The overall atmosphere was cozy. We had delicious food and drinks. The entire menu is available in the lounge as well.

The second night was our anniversary, and we made reservations in the restaurant (which is bordering the lounge, overlooking Rosario Strait). We made reservations, but even arriving early, had to wait an additional 15 minutes. The restaurant was quiet, our waiter was great, and the food was excellent (on par with the night before).

My personal preference would have been to eat both nights in the lounge. The second night, there was even live music. The staff was great and the food was delicious.

Prices were very fair, and less expensive than the comparable menu of New Leaf Cafe.

Menu might be a touch ambitious but give the chef credit for reaching. Main courses were good. Dessert was excellent and the wine selection was very nice.
