Quite possibly the best burger I have ever had, with fries to match. We showed up soaking wet, cold and starving after a long wet hike with burgers on our minds. You know when a menu tells you specifically what is in their burger meat, they are proud of it and it's going to be good. It was. The homemade fries on the side were crisp and salty, The service was relaxed and friendly. WHP is a bar, with a pool table in the middle of the room, so the atmosphere is not cozy. Once you taste the food, you will not care. Oh yeah, fantastic beer selection, too.

Good Pub food with good service. Like a dive bar with sports screens and a pool table the view on to the bay is not to be missed. Wow to the view. The servers are attentive and friendly.

I read some of the reviews and I had pretty low expectations. We had Rolling Rock on draft and Harp beer in bottles. Very good and very cold. The fish and chips were very good. My wife had the crab cakes, and the other couple had crab cakes and a burger. Excellent. The view of the water was an added bonus. We would go back.

Went there for lunch while staying in Orcas and had lunch. The waitress was very friendly and seated us right away. I had the turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich which was excellent, but my son had the clam chowder which was a big disappointment and after a few bites he stopped and started grabbing my fries. The soup was bland and needed something. Another great view at least!

Our group enjoyed a nice weekend of camping at Moran and decided to grab some lunch in town on the way to the ferry. We arrived at White Horse right as they were opening and our party was the first customers through the door. The location is unbeatable and the full wall of windows offers views you can't find at many other places on Orcas. Once inside, however, it's somewhat of a dump.

The kids immediately ran to the Pac Man machine while we talked to the server to figure out how our group of ten would be sat. She offered to pull two tables together in the middle of the restaurant but given the amazing views we naturally wanted to sit by the window. We got off to a bad start when the server started getting an attitude with us and didn't want us to take the window tables because "it would suck for anyone else who came in to eat and wanted a window table." Huh? Yeah, somehow our party of ten paying customers isn't worthy of the window but other unknown future guests were? It was baffling and frankly pretty aggravating. We ended up just taking one window four top and splitting our group up in an attempt to appease our surly waitress. It was particularly fun re-living it all again later when the bar back showed up for his shift and we hear our waitress loudly complaining about our table drama like it was the worst shift ever.

Really it was downhill from there. The service was fine, there were literally only four other diners in the whole place. Food arrived in a reasonable time and the fish and chips was pretty disappointing. The plate had a pool of grease gathered and the small pieces of fish were ok but the pile of fresh cut fries were barely warm and totally soggy. We were really the only diners so it's not like the kitchen was slammed. The fries sat too long and weren't cooked at a high enough temp nor allowed to drain oil before being dumped on the plate. Yum.

Everyone else had a mediocre meal, not horrible but nothing special. The menu is pretty large but really, white horse is a bar with spectacular views. It smells like a bar (stale and heavy on cleaner) and is probably much different on a Friday or Saturday night. We've all seen our favorite dive bar the morning after with the lights on and that's what White Horse clearly is. For a group of families looking for lunch we were lured by the view and location and paid the price with below average food and unpleasant service.
