We stopped into Lower Tavern for a burger at around 2:00 the Thursday before Memorial Weekend. The place wasn't crowded; a few folks at the bar and one or two tables of other customers. But there was only one person manning both the bar and serving tables, and he was struggling to keep up. Took a long time to get our order in, get our food, and then get the check. However, the food itself was really good pub fare -- I had the Black and Bleu Burger, which came not only with a side of Bleu cheese dressing, but was also loaded with Gorgonzola crumbles -- yum!! My husband had a tavern burger and it too was delish! Great clam chowder! The service issue may have just been one of those things -- someone calling in sick and leaving them short-handed. If you're not in a big hurry and want a good burger, this is the place.
