Well your on a little island - and this was rated the "best" but beware of the 30 cork fee! The finest seattle restaurants charge much less! The smell in the door could kill you - the service was medium. The seafood stew was not fresh & definitely microwaved. The saving grace was the sea scallops - which were good. I could have had bought something from the bakery & cracked my bottle in my hotel room & need better off.

for this "special" four course dinner , we started with a coconut crab soup with red curry that was very good, then a roasted beets and salmon salad that was good, but then things went terribly wrong with the prime rib roast that was bland with a scoop of puree totally bland and tiny bits of carrots and brussels sprouts that were chewy ,dry and burnt!.( might have been cooked the day before and reheated...) unacceptable for the price asked for ($75 +taxes) .As for the dessert, a vanilla cheese cake, it was decent but one could expect something a little more creative for this special dinner that had only one choice except for the main entree( the other choice was scallops).
the restaurant was not decorated in any way, quite a surprise, and even the smell at the entrance of the restaurant was not pleasant.

we are for sure not going back to this place and hopefully this review should raise concerns to the owner and a warning for readers
from two well travelled customers

Everything about this restaurant is top notch. The food is exquisitely prepared. The ambiance is charming, quiet, elegant but very, very comfortable at the same time. Service levels are exactly what you would expect for a 5-star dining experience. Allium is now our favorite restaurant!

Beautiful view out on their patio overlooking the water. Our server seemed irritated though after we were sitting on the patio a few minutes and I was too cold because I forgot my jacket. We asked to move inside and it seemed like an inconvenience even though she sat us in her area that she was serving.
The restaurant seemed a bit 'higher class', you don't need to 'dress up' but I don't think it's a good choice if you have children.
We both got scallops and OMG, they were so delicious! Service was a bit slow and we weren't sure if it was just us or all of our server's tables.
I bet all of their food is delicious. Even though I don't think we got the 'best' service, we will return here next year on our trip back to Orcas and looking forward to it!

If you are in search for great food but don't care much about the service or atmosphere, then eat at Allium. Upon our arrival, we were immediately turned off by the $30 corkage fee. $30!!!!! for a small cafe on a remote island??? And their wine list, is not impressive, its expensive and the wine by the glass options were awful. The wait staff never smiled so all that combined with great food left a lot to be desired. It doesn't take much to make a customer feel welcomed. Allium needs an attitude adjustment and then... it can be considered a restaurant worth going to.
