“The most AaaahMazing little getaway place we have ever stayed in!”

Unlike most places I have found online, the Hobbit House is far better than the photos can possibly show. The woodwork, the bathing room, the bedroom in the trees, the decks, the view, I could go on and on!
The kitchen is beautifully designed with gorgeous wood counter tops, a really cool hammered copper sink, and is fully stocked with everything we needed plus more.
The bathing room has a 2-person? (we both fit in it!) round tub in the center of the room that is set into the floor with a shower wand for rinsing, a portable heater, linens, and even bath robes.
The main room has a comfortable futon, a couple of stuffed chairs, and a table and chairs for meals. There is also a propane fireplace that heats the room well, 2 TVs, VHS, DVD player, and tons of movies to watch. There are also a couple of games and some books. There was even a cool xylophone on top of one of the hutches that I played "Happy Birthday" to my fiancee on when he woke up on birthday morning.
The last room, which is connected to the main room by a short part of the deck, has an office on the bottom floor and a bedroom on the top floor that is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase that runs around one side of the unit. The memory foam mattress on the bed (with a sheep-skin like pad on top of it) was brand new when we got there and SO comfortable. I slept like a baby.
All three of the rooms are round and have round plastic domes in the center of the roofs which let light in. Also, much of the walls are floor-to-ceiling windows with gorgeous views. The sunrise across the water on our last morning there was gorgeous! There are no window coverings on the windows but you don't need any because it is very private. I LOVED all of the windows!
There is a huge deck that wraps around the back side of the two first buildings with a barbecue, picnic table, and small table and chairs. The deck faces the water and is so peaceful to sit out there and enjoy coffee in the morning or read a book in the evening.
I just cannot say enough about this place.
There is beach access very near by that we walked along and tons of great hiking in Moran State Park, phenomenal views from the top of Mount Constitution and fun little shops down on Main Street. I cannot comment on any restaurants as we cooked all of our meals in the Hobbit House.
This was probably the first place we have ever stayed where we actually wanted to spend more time inside than out doing things - the Hobbit House is just that much fun!

“Great place for young honeymooners”

The good:
Very serene and private location. We felt as though we were alone in the forest. There is a house next door, but it was not occupied and did not look as though it had been occupied, lately. There is a small beach area, but rocky rather than sandy. Plenty of wildlife in and around the area. The house is nicely appointed and has everything needed to have an enjoyable stay. The house has lots of natural light, and you can star-gaze while laying on the bed looking through a skylight.

The not so good (For me at least):
The bathroom is located down the stairs, across the walk from to the other pod. There is a chamber pot on the balcony in the upstairs bedroom, but at my age I just elected to sleep on the futon in the living room. The shower is a handheld on the soaking tub, so you climb down in to the tub to shower. After sleeping on the futon all night, it was a hard climb.

Caveat: There is no cleaning charge and you are expected to clean-up after yourselves, so if you're a slob by nature this is not the place for you.

What a charming place to stay. It had everything we needed and more. The views are spectacular. It has one drawback as it does not have the bathroom on the same level as the bedroom. In spite of that we had one of the most rejuvenating vacations we've had.

Thanks for your feedback Adele! We loved having you both there and I am
glad you could make it and rest. Yes --the toilet on the same floor as the bedroom would be good- there is a fold down futon bed in the main living area with the toilet on the same floor---perhaps I should turn that room into the bedroom? Thanks again! Suzanne

“Very unique, private, and relaxing”
Reviewed June 13, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

The Hobbit House is probably the most unique place we have stayed! It was wonderful sitting on the deck relaxing, and the only sounds were nature. I would highly recommend staying here if you wish to get away and relax.

The mattress in the tower bedroom was a but soft and squeaky. The futon in the living room was very nice.

Thanks Kevin for your response and feedback, we really appreciate it. I am so glad you were able to relax out there---it is amazing how quiet it is. This is the first feedback on the bed---thanks for letting us know---we will have to see if that is a general complaint and if so look into the possibility of getting something a bit firmer. We will have to figure out how to get it up there---that mattress barely was able to go up the spiral staircase---1% chance. Perhaps a futon up there would work--I know they can go up the staircase. Best to you and your family
