The all day Sucia kayaking trip exceeded our expectations. The trip was great; lots of paddling, lots of time to also properly explore. Our guide Jason was exceptional; knowledgeable, personable and experienced.

This trip however is not for beginners or the faint hearted. At one point, we had rough water, wind and tide all at once. It required focus and paddling skill to stay on the dry side....Nothing dangerous, but best that you be experienced....

We had a wonderful day kayaking around Sucia with our guide, Chris, and 3 other couples. Beautiful scenery, some fun mild rolling waves, lots of birds and wonderful views of seals. We were fortunate that all guests were comfortable in the boats, if not, you might have to portage part of the island. Chris was very knowledgeable and fun. We all had an awesome day and adventure. I used a travelzoo voucher. They now have online booking and availability seemed pretty good.

We enjoyed a whale watch voyage in late July, 2013. We made the reservation just a day in advance and were pleased that we could be picked up on Lopez Island. This is our first visit to the islands and we hadn't realized that most of the whale watches leave from other islands. It was a beautiful afternoon and we saw a lot of seals and a few Minke Whales. The views of Mt. Baker and even a glimpse of Mt. Rainer were incredible. Our Captain/Guide was excellent and the whole voyage took about three hours.

We took the Sucia Island guided kayaking trip. It went from 9am to 3 pm. Our guide was energetic, personable, knowledgeable, and outspoken. He did, however, seem to hang with one young couple a lot on the tour, kind of ignoring the rest of us. He also tended to be at the front of the pack and would talk without turning around so no one could hear him! eventually, the group worked out a kind of system where we passed the messages along, so it worked out ok. We also thought the guide said a few inappropriate things here and there, talking about picking girls up in bars and making jokes about the sexual antics of certain sea life...but he was, after all, a 25-year old kid. The sights were beautiful, and we got to see lots of wildlife. The weather was perfect. Lots of great photo ops! And these were by far the most comfortable kayaks we've ever been in; really good back support and a rudder on the back for easy navigation. The only thing keeping us from giving it a 5 is the fact that we asked ahead of time how strenuous it was and thought they grossly underestimated the effort needed for this trip. We have kayaked before in Mexico and Lake Tahoe and it was no where near this difficult. Had they told us ahead of time that there were places we would have been paddling out into choppy, open seas, through very rough current at times, we might have thought twice. But we made it OK. I can see some folks not being able to do this trip. My husband and i work out and are in fairly good shape, and the last part of this trip was tiring. The entire last 30 minutes was just hard paddling to get back to our start point, at which we were told we would be portaging the kayaks "a short distance." These were not small kayaks; they were large, heavy, two-man kayaks with storage spaces in front and back. I have 3 bulging discs In my back and NO WAY was I going to carry that thing. Luckily, the men in the group did all the carrying. Other places we've kayaked, the transportation of the boats was totally taken care of for the price. Overall, a nice experience; just know that you are going to do some work on this tour!

While the trip itself was very nice, I would not do this again because the booking was so difficult. If you are using a daily deal coupon, be prepared for little availability and lots of resistance. Outer Island: Be gracious about your coupons or don't do them. Your customer service left a very bad taste in my mouth.
