“Everything you need”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

Whether traveling solo, as a couple or family, the Outlook Inn has everything you need and provides high-end touches at every corner.

You get an excellent beach directly in front of the hotel, a choice of room sizes and styles for all budgets, and a great restaurant with fresh food, plus you are in the center of town.

The suite was less then $200/night and included an amazing jetted tub, towel warmers, and some of the best (local) soaps/lotions I've used in a hotel.

Stay here and visit the Rosario Resort for a drink and museum tour - we did back to back nights at both hotels and were surprised at how much we enjoyed staying at the Outlook.

Perfect location, friendly staff, clean room with a heavenly view. This is the perfect place to recharge at Orcas Island. The New Leaf Cafe offers excellent breakfast and dinner menus. Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 41 - spacious with a wonderful view

Arrived on a windy day and greeted by a gracious desk clerk. A smooth check in. Our room was well laid out. Entered into a hallway with mini kitchen. Huge bathroom with shower and large jetted bathtub. Entering living area with a bed on a pedestal to lie in bed and see the Orcas island waters. Down one step to a sofa, chairs and table. In one corner there was gas fire place. A charming deck with chairs to watch a wonderful view. If you didn't need room service received a 5.00 discount at the restaurant or the gift shop. Close to town and walking distance to near by restaurants. The Inns restaurant is only open on Thursday to Sunday. Sublime accommodations!

My wife and I recently stayed in a gorgeous bay view suite at the Outlook Inn on Orcas Island. The service was great and the views were the most amazing, jaw-dropping views I've ever had from a hotel. The hotel was conveniently located in Eastsound, walking distance from nearby shops, galleries and restaurants. I highly recommend the Outlook Inn, especially if you're looking for a romantic getaway.

On the downside, we were on a ground-floor suite and a family with super-high-energy kids was staying above us. For hours those seemingly unsupervised kids(I use the term politely) were running back and forth, jumping off furniture, yelling and putting a serious damper on our romance and relaxation. Grrrr. We called the front desk several times and nothing was done about the issue until 9:00 at night. Double-Grrrrrr. That said, if you're planning a stay at the Outlook Inn on Orcas Island, be sure you're staying on the top floor and you don't have a family with kids or teenagers above you or you'll be sorry.

On another note, we ate dinner one night at the New Leaf Restaurant, located at the Outlook Inn. Our meal was nice but nothing remarkable, especially given the high price tag. Maybe we were there on an off-night but my sense is that there are better, less expensive restaurants nearby.

Regarding transportation, if you're planning a trip to Orcas Island, I highly recommend a rental car, which you can rent near the ferry landing. The island is quite large and there's much to see, which would be impossible to do on foot or via taxi. Be forewarned, rental cars on Orcas or San Juan Islands are not the same, clean, low-mileage vehicles as on the mainland. Ours was filthy when we picked it up and had to be jump started. Eh-hem! Fortunately we were provided with a portable jump starter/battery unit to take with us. Luckily we never had to use it.

Also, we HIGHLY recommend taking a sea plane via Kenmore Air if you're coming from the Seattle area. The ferries are great for inter-island transportation but for long stretches, do yourself a favor and take the sea plane. We took the sea plane out($122/person) and were at the islands in no time. On the way back, however, we took the ferry to Anacortes...then a shuttle...then a bus to get back to SeaTac airport. In the end, it took us 14 hours to get back to our home in Santa Barbara. If we took the sea plane, it would have taken us perhaps 5-6 hours.

Finally, the Outlook Inn on Orcas Island was a real gem and a rare find. My wife and I were very fortunate to stay there and we hope to do so again some day. Next time, however, we'll make sure we stay in an upstairs unit and we'll be sure to take the sea plane both ways.

Room Tip: Choose a bay view suite on the top floor.

Regardless of your price range the Outlook Inn is by far the best location in Eastsound. Walk to everything that Eastsound has to offer. The Bay View Suites are the ultimate in comfort and view.
Good restaurant, very friendly staff and plenty of free parking.

Room Tip: Bay View Suites are the ultimate but the East Building keeps you comfortable but at a lower rate.

I've stayed here twice now with more certain to come. It stormed on two of the five days. Even then the fireplace, a good book, a bit of wine, wind and rain pounding against the windows and watching white caps on the bay made for a very relaxing time. Not to mention a nap on the couch. A stocked kitchenette meant not having to leave the room unless I wanted to. Excellent food and service in the dining room and bar. I again enjoyed having other dining options and many small shops so close by.

Room Tip: The Bay View rooms are more expensive but worth every penny.

We stayed here in a Bay View Suite last weekend, and it was PERFECT! Arrived on the late side because we missed the 4 pm ferry, and once we were checked in, had a bite to eat at the New Leaf Cafe, which was warm, comfortable and relaxed. The salad with goat cheese hit the spot perfectly as a late dinner and was beautifully prepared and presented!

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The king bed was on the upper level, and on a pedestal, so while in bed, the view out the window to the bay was framed perfectly by the very large window. Down two steps was the sitting room with a full very comfortable couch (I think it's a fold out if traveling with children or friends), end tables with lamps, writing/game table and a gas fireplace in the corner.

The bathroom is a full bath with separate soaking jacuzzi tub and generous shower stall. Between the bath and the bedroom was a little area with fridge, microwave, and sink/cabinet that was stocked with plates, silverware and glasses. The coffee set up was a Keurig single-cup, and a variety of coffees/teas were available, along with half-and-half.

Breakfast brought more delights at the New Leaf Cafe, with a generous and again very well prepared meal.

It was a cool, drizzly weekend and I had a very bad head cold, so we spent a fair amount of time in the room, and I can tell you with certainty that it was wonderfully comfortable and a great space for two adults camped out for the day! Neither of us felt cramped, and with the sitting area, it was very comfortable for hanging out indoors once we had visited the Shakespeare festival's parade and taken a drive to Rosario.

Looking forward to visiting again!

Room Tip: I would definitely spring for a Bay View Suite again. Just lovely, romantic and spacious! We had roo...
