Outlook Inn on Orcas Island

This was our first time to Orcas, and it was made all the more wonderful because of our stay At the Outlook Inn. We had a water view, and it was so beautiful and peaceful. The room is a good size, and everything was spotless. We enjoyed the fireplace and the convenience of having a microwave and refrigerator available in our room.

Room Tip: It was worth it for us to get the water view, it's so pretty.

I have stayed at Outlook Inn twice in the past few months. Both times have been very good experiences. Great staff and well maintained rooms, especially the Junior Suite overlooking the Bay. Looking forward to the next time I will be there.

Room Tip: Request the Suites or Junior Suites. Newer rooms, well appointed and overlooking the Bay.

The Outlook Inn can't take credit for surprisingly beautiful winter weather, but it definitely played a big role in a wonderful post-crazy-busy holiday for my husband and me. At the desk, we were upgraded to a suite at no charge, presented with a bottle of wine and given excellent ideas for dinner (New Leaf was closed for the month, but we enjoyed Sazio) and hikes (Mountain Lake). Then we walked into our room, which was beautifully decorated with a breathtaking view of Fishing Bay. The bed and bedding were cozy and comfortable, the heated towel bars were a treat, and we appreciated the mini-fridge, microwave, plates and cutlery. The floor heat was a little temperamental -- but who cares when everything else is perfect? We will be back.

We stayed for two nights in a suite with a view of the Sound. When we opened the door and saw the bottle of Malbec with two wine glasses waiting, I knew we had picked the right place to stay! A small balcony, gas fireplace, jetted tub, heated towel rack....perfect. You actually have a view of the sound from the extremely comfy bed-it's beautiful. There's also a small kitchenette-the microwave even has a browning unit in it! It's a suite but it's actually one really large room with a sunken living room If you're planning on bringing kids & eating in, they only have place settings for two people. There's a really large selection of movies to borrow. The only criticism I had was they didn't have an iPod dock but the DVD player in the tv at least played music CDs There's also some traffic noise as it's located right on the main street and by the small airport. However, the location is also an advantage as all the quaint shops and restaurants are easily walkable. Their restaurant is closed during the winter but there are others close enough. The young women working the front desk were extremely pleasant. If you're staying in the winter, Orcas Island rolls up its sidewalks pretty early except for the Lower Tavern, which is a great place to watch Seahawks games.

Room Tip: Get a suite on the upper floor.

We arrived late and to our surprise were upgraded to a beachfront room. Tracy at the front counter was a joy. The view was beautiful and the room was clean and quiet. We will be going back in March. Eastsound is the place to be on Orcas, cute shops and restaurants. We had a wonderful time.

I really enjoyed this Inn. It is centrally located to all Eastsound spots so you can walk everywhere. I stayed in room 40 which is a Junior Suite. The room has a fireplace, refrigerator, balcony, Kuerig coffee maker and heated towel rack. The view from this room is spectacular! What a way to wake up. Unfortunately the café was closed, so cannot comment on the food, but will definitely be back. Note, this hotel is located on Main street so I image the traffic noise might be a issue during the high season. Very clean, very comfortable and very pleasant staff made for a great pre holiday vacation.

Room Tip: upper floors have better views and less noise.

We stayed two nights in one of the suites looking over East Sound. The view and the room were just what we wanted. The room, with its two levels, seemed much bigger than its square footage and the view from the bed was as nice as from the living area. We had s good sized galley kitchenette and a huge bathroom with a nice heated towel rack! Luxury. Waking up to the grey sky gradually turning bright blue over the sound was a real treat as was watching a fellow guest (who had borrowed the Inn's kayak) explore the Sound by water.

The staff were welcoming and happily accommodated our somewhat late arrival. The desk clerk told us the few places in town still open for food including the New Leaf Cafe on site.

The bed was big and comfortable, the fireplace made a nice romantic ambiance and the deck was high enough that we kept the door open for much of the time we were in the room, even at night. We will go back the first chance we get. Eastsound and Orcas have a real charm and part of that charm is the Outlook Inn.

Room Tip: The Bayview Suites are lovely for a splurge.
