We just returned from a weekend at the Inn on Orcas Island. In choosing the Inn, I was looking for a serene, well appointed Inn that would allow us to (finally) have a weekend away. Let's just say were WEREN'T disappointed.
John and Jeremy are the most wonderful, hospitable hosts, full of recommendations for dinner/sightseeing/excursions. We weren't sure if we would make the 3 p.m. ferry (we didn't), and we knew that we'd want to have dinner - Jeremy called a nearby restaurant in advance of our arrival to inform them that we'd be arriving after our check-in.
The food is TO DIE FOR. John does all of the cooking, and I was in love with breakfast. Our first night we had Godiva chocolates on our pillow; the second we had homemade chocoolate chip and walnut cookies that were exquisite. Breakfast is TRULY gourmet. The first morning we had blueberry bread pudding and yogurt/fruit parfaits; the second morning we had baked apples and eggs Florentine.
The Inn is BEAUTIFUL. It's very tastefully decorated Victorian with beautiful Victorian artwork and antiques. The beds in each room are very comfortable - we hadn't had a weekend away in a while, and we both fell fast asleep when we finally retired for the night. In addition to several deluxe rooms/suites, there is also a Waterfront house - a small, romantic cottage right on the water, and a carriage house - complete with a two car garage. We stayed in the Serenity Suite - complete with a queen size four-poster bed, balcony overlooking the water, a gas fireplace, radiant heated flooors and a jetted tub.
Even though it was raining the weekend we were there (typical in the fall/winter), the scenery was very tranquil. We would DEFINITELY recommend the Inn on Orcas Island over ANY other Inn/B&B on Orcas, and plan to visit again.
THANK YOU John and Jeremy!
